So....this no7 serum stuff?

Two tubes of Protect and Perfect serum finally dropped through my post box yesterday morning four weeks after they were ordered off Amazon, but that's a whole other thread.

Anyway, I am eagerly anticipating it taking fifteen years off me. A question though - I am putting it on after cleanser and then putting moisturiser over the top. Is this right? And how much should I be using? A small amount I hope!

Does anyone swear by this stuff? I have heard it actually really truly works.

Sorry, no idea, but marking my place as am a sucker for magic rejuvenation sera so if wiser people say it does I shall be off to order some Grin

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 18:36

TOP TIP: found some for £11.50 on Amazon and it's double that in Boots. I couldn't quibble about the long wait when it was that, well not cheap, but reduced. I would never spend that much on a cream but I had some birthday money and I'm freewheeling down the road to forty Grin. Something had to be done!

Yes, you put it on after cleansing and before moisturiser. I've been using it for a few weeks and my skin feels lovely and soft - not sure about looking fifteen years younger though!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 18:53

How much are you putting on? As much as moisturiser or less?

OP posts:
justtryingtodomybest · 13/05/2012 18:55

Less than moisturiser - a blob about the size of a 20p. Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong!

HashtagJussayin · 13/05/2012 19:04

That is a huge amount! I would have said about a few grains of rice as an amount on the places that you are concerned about and then smooth over the rest of your face.

You should cleanse then put serum on then moisturiser over the top. I use

HashtagJussayin · 13/05/2012 19:07

I'm not sure its wise buying from amazon. It is dearer in Boots but It's on 3for2 just now and I've been told the £5 off coupon is coming soon...

goodasgold · 13/05/2012 19:11

It says use it for six months for the 50% reduction. After 1 month I noticed my 11s were less noticeable so I am sticking with it for the six months to see what that will do. I go between using loads (new tube) and hardly any (getting to the end of a tube) and they last about a month. It is the one marked 'intense'.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 19:26

A blob the size of a 20p? Shock I will be bankrupt in no time! And how much moisturiser must you be using?

It seems like you are sucked into using it and thinking "Wow, it's working!" in the four weeks, just in time for the tube to run out and then you think "I can't stop buying this ever!"

To be fair, I do have very dry skin

PigletJohn · 13/05/2012 19:49

Is "serum" a posh word for Emulsified Lard?

jellybeans · 13/05/2012 19:56

I find Aldi's is as good.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 20:01

I might try Emulsified Lard. It sounds intriguing.

I don't have an Aldi's within 30 miles sadly or I'd be there like a shot. Mind you, it would probably be cheaper to drive 30 miles and buy the stuff from Aldi.

FermezLaBouche · 13/05/2012 20:06

I've stopped using the Boots stuff as I found it very bog standard tbh. I think I'm going to try the Aldi stuff, as I wont feel guilty about using it fairly liberally, and I've heard its good.
Garnier used to do a LOVELY serum in a small pump action cylinder tub thing, it smelled really lovely but I can;t find it now for love nor money :(

Out of interest, my friend with beautiful skin swears by going to bed every night with a face full of Sudocrem..... not tried it personally, but I wouldn't rule it out! :)

FermezLaBouche · 13/05/2012 20:07

Oh - just found the Garnier stuff on Ebay... so much for love nor money!

FermezLaBouche · 13/05/2012 20:08

Just in case you're interested. I'm skint at the moment but as soon as I get paid I will grab myself a few bottles.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 20:09

Sudocream would make my skin really greasy.

Off to google the garnier stuff.

Thanks FermezLaBouche.

£4.45!!!

OP posts:
FermezLaBouche · 13/05/2012 20:26

I know!!! :) And I think when I used to buy it it was a good 8-9 quid. Ariel, if you don't mind me asking, (and hijacking your thread a little) what kind of skin do you have? Mine seems to be chronically dry at the moment and despite daily sloughing in the morning, I often have flaky bits around my forehead and hairline. (A delight, me!)

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 20:31

Um...I don't know really. Not really dry, though there is one stubborn little patch on my forehead. It's certainly never been greasy and I was very lucky when I was younger in that I didn't get spots much. Have the odd one or two now. And I'm fair and freckly. I use Olay for sensitive skin with SPF 15 every morning.

OP posts:
ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/05/2012 20:32

My comment above contradicts the Sudocream horror. I don't normally have greasy skin but I know that Sudocream would make it so.

OP posts:
FermezLaBouche · 13/05/2012 20:37

Ooh I use Olay in the morning too - I do like it but it's not my favourite ever. I'm going to try the sudocrem thing tonight I reckon. Will have to sleep with hair pulled back, and I'm sure it will end up all over the pillowcases, but I just want to see what effect it has :)
