Need new (cheap) face cream

I can no longer afford my beloved Guinot face & eye creams. What can I replace them with to save some money?

I am close to 40 with 2 young DC, and look appropriately haggard & wrinkled.

Do you have an Aldi near you? Their face creams get raves for being like that No7 one I think.

franticallyjugglinglife · 11/05/2012 23:14

Simple, all the way. I used to spend a bomb on expensive creams, and I switched for money reasons a couple of years ago, and I have never looked back. My skin is better than its ever been :)

MrsHende · 11/05/2012 23:15

Get the Aldi range, it's fab!

RatDesPaquerettes · 11/05/2012 23:16

Aldi (Lacura range) comes highly recommended, as whackamole said. Worth a try!

Tranquilidade · 11/05/2012 23:17

Aldi stuff gets rave revues and I also think you can't beat the Nivea range. I stock up when it's on offer in supermarket, it does just as well as my Clarins used to and smells gorgeously old-fashioned.

EllieorOllie · 11/05/2012 23:25

Be careful with the Aldi stuff. It obviously suits lots of people on here but it is highly fragranced and made my skin feel tight and itchy. I rate Boots Botanics, amazing stuff. Particularly the sensitive skin moisturiser with mallow, it's so effective.

Body Shop Vitamin E intensive. It's about £11 but they always gave offers on so I usually only pay about £6. Smells lovely, feels good on, use it day and night.

PrimaBallerina · 11/05/2012 23:27

Aldi. £1.99!

Has Aldi been suggested already?

RatDesPaquerettes · 11/05/2012 23:28

If you are keen on eco-friendly products, I can also recommend Pure Nuff Stuff.

The prices are very reasonable and suitable for sensitive skins.

RatDesPaquerettes · 12/05/2012 00:47

I meant 'the products are suitable for sensitive skin', not the prices. Wink

Big tub of Nivea. Use it on my face, my body, my kids and mix it with tanning lotion for my no longer pasty white legs!

mrsebojones · 12/05/2012 07:50

Simple age resisting range. Whilst I have stuck with my clinique night cream, I switched day cream to save money and this range is good. I also now use the foaming facial wash and a simple toner.

bessie26 · 12/05/2012 08:19

Thanks guys Thanks I'm not sure we have an Aldi, but used to use simple all the time, didn't know they did an aged range!

I find Astral very good - I use the light Astral cream (in the light blue tub)

missmartha · 12/05/2012 09:20

Another Aldi girl here. I love the stuff and their body lotion.

olay?

Or experiment with its other lines...

Tried this again after years, not too bad... hydrates amazaingly

I love E45 cream. It doesn't feel heavy, but makes my skin look fresh all day. E45 washcream works very well as well and can be removed with a warm flannel or cotton wool, bit like Liz Earle stuff. The applied warmth is very relaxing - like those hot towels in barber shops frequented by mob bosses, but without the sudden machine gun 'hit' danger.
