i bought this today and these to wear with it. i need to buy a bag and jewellery to wear with it and possibly something to wear over my shoulders? also, would it look really silly if i got one of those petticoats that makes the puffy bit puffier?

BTW the tags have not been removed so please tell me if the dress or shoes or both are hideous as i have zero style sense. the dress fitted in the shop so i bought it.

no suits for them ds1 who is 6 has this shirt and these with navy leather boat shoes

and ds2 who will be just turned 3 has this shirt and these with brown leather boat shoes.

i asked here for their wedding styling tips a while ago and these were given the go ahead Grin

Aww they are sweet. I wouldn't have a clue what to dress little boys in. They'd probably look like this

IAmBooyhoo · 11/05/2012 23:21

Grin that is hilarious!

well i knew i didn't want snazzy tinfoil suits that made them look like jedward so i posted what i was thinking up here and got thumbs up. was pretty impressed with myself then as i really dont have a sodden clue about clothes or fashion. hate going clothes shopping as it's all so confusing. i'm supposed to know what fruit my body looks like?? what's all that about?

Kids shopping is great. I just find most grown up clothing really bland and dull at the moment. It's all a bit floral and beige and people will definitely look back on it in photos and ask "Mum what were you thinking?"

Even Sweatershop of the 90's was better than this 70's throwback.

If my body were a fruit... it'd be a bag of mange tout. Because it's alright but you never know what you should be doing with it.

that dress is vile!

i did see some lovely bright stuff today in next but again, i wouldn't have a clue what to team anything with or whether i was wearing too much colour or not enough. jeans, boots, coat, go. but i did look like shite beside some of those lovely dressed ladies today. good thing i dont go shopping often then isn't it? Oh I go out shopping like a complete trampy bag lady. (There's method to my madness) because then shop assistants don't bother you with the incessant 'Can i help you?'

and also it's easier to try something on when you're wearing old ratty jeans and a tshirt because there's not much chance of you putting them back on incorrectly.

I can't understand people who wear heels out shopping or who go shopping as a social exercise. Don't they realise it's like the bloody Labyrinth!?

ooh ooh, i saw a woman today pushing a pram and she was wearing the highest stilettos i have ever seen. she had the full works on, black black hair, orange tan, massive loopy earrings, thick black fake lashes and black eye make up, really tight skinny jeans and then the shoes, i swear the pram was the only thing holding her up. i remember seeing her and thinking i would absoloutely dread shopping if i had set myself that standard to maintain everytime i went to teh shops. her feet must kill her.

I just don't get it at all.

I know that just because you're a mum doesn't mean that you can't be sexy or whatnot anymore... but you'd think having a child would at least make you want to not dress like a stripper in public.

For one thing, who has the time?
And for two, my toddler dd would rip my eyeballs out if I was wearing fake eyelashes, never mind the dangly earrings!

IAmBooyhoo · 12/05/2012 00:12

exactly. i dont know how she carried her baby without falling over in those shoes. she was doing that stupid silly knees together teetery walk that everyone in those shoes does. there is no way i could hold both my dcs' hands and walk safely accross a road in those shoes, never mind drive!

no, handbags are my thing. i have several dozen gorgeous handbags and i never grow out of them or get sore body parts wearing them, they dont wear out and need re heeled or get scuffed the first time i fall over wearing them because i dont fall over wearing them! bags are my thing, and you can fit so much toddler crap into them and still look stylish. well the bag looks stylish. i dont! I think I'm more houseproudy now than fashiony. If I have spare money it either tends to go on DD or it goes towards furniture.

I might look like a tramp but my house is the mutts nuts. (On a good day. Sometimes it's just balls.)

IAmBooyhoo · 12/05/2012 00:21

oh i'm not even houseproud to balance it out. inside i am. there is a perfectionist within me fighting to get out past the lazy person that is me. Grin

i used to be fashiony but i dont think i ever really got it right. it takes to much effort and keeping up with trends and always buying new stuff that i just dont have the money for. nor the time. not with dcs. although i see some of the mum's at school and they must be loaded as they are always looking like they just fell out of river island or topshop. always different coats and shoes and accessories.

Love the dress (op's, not the hideous river island one!) less keen on the shoes. Like the Zara ones but 13.8 cm heels - wow!

Suggestion re bag: buy a teeny one to go with your outfit and have your dp carry the change bag Grin

IAmBooyhoo · 12/05/2012 00:36

no dp. but my mum is coming with me although i doubt very much she'll tolerate having to carry my bag. she'll be too busy showing off her own. hmm, cunning plan is forming in my head. buy a small bag, tell mum she'll have to carry ds's clothes and wipes in hers, tell ds granny has his stuff, wander off to bar while ds clings to granny, get drunk quickly before granny realises she's babysitting and then it's too late, she cant leave dses with drunk mummy. Outsourcing! It's defo the way forward Grin
