Black high heels - help?

ilove · 11/05/2012 10:35

I need a pair of decent, black, high heels that I can walk in. I'm a size 7.5/8, I have wide feet.

I need to be able to walk in them - think going from Yorkshire to London, 5am start, 11pm finish, into KX, to the office down there, on my feet most of the day, London pavements, then belting back to KX for the 8:05 back oop North.

I saw mt feet yesterday in a full length mirror and realised that I was wearing old-lady low heel Mary Janes that made my feet look podgy and gross.

Help me please - I looked on M&S last night and saw a couple of pairs, but the reviews were not good...

Budget is a max of £50...

Hi iLove,

I suffer with bunions so always need wide fit shoes to accommodate the buggers! I was told to try Evans as they do wide fit shoes. I've never looked back. Have a look on their website as I'm sure you might find something on there. Reasonably priced so £50 should go quite far.

Oooo just had another thought, New Look! They do wide fit shoes too :)

peep toe

love these but may not be too comfy

All v v inexpensive too :o

stringbean · 11/05/2012 10:57

I've just bought these. I take a size 8 too and was really pleased to find how comfortable they are. I often have to go in to London and travel a lot for work, so they'll be great for that. Given that the LK Bennett version are nearly £200 (and probably not nearly as comfortable) and Clarks have 10% off, I thought they were a real bargain! The heel hight is 8cm btw.

ChablisLover · 11/05/2012 12:32

Ah - stringbean - have been looking at those as well and currently doing a basket hop with them.

ilove · 11/05/2012 13:24

Thanks all, I'll have a look in Clarks and Evans - hadn't considered either of them!

I do a lot of walking during the day and also have to be smart. I always wear Clarks heels as they are very comfy and look good too. I'm going to get some of www.clarks.co.uk/p/20350128these for the summer

FunnysInLaJardin · 11/05/2012 13:34

bugger again

FunnysInLaJardin · 11/05/2012 13:34

oh well, I liked them.........

CrackedNipplesSuchFun · 11/05/2012 14:11

Clarks wedges are beautiful! But, IMO, surely wedges are not a work shoe?!

ecuse · 11/05/2012 14:18

I've got super wide feet (annoying little trotters). I am obsessed with finding comfortable but not ugly shoes although usually fail. I generally find M&S wide fit quite good. I can't really cope with heels at all TBH but find I really need them if I want to look smart at work. I go to and from work in trainers to compensate though!

For work heels am currently wearing some patent/suede wedges from M&S wide fit. Can't find them online, but they're similar to these if a little lower.

Also the Shoe Tailor is a generally good website. You do have to sift through a lot of grannyish "comfort" shoes, but there are some good ones there. I have just bought these in yellow and pink which are super comfortable and a bit quirky (not the usual ugly wide-fit shoe). They're comfortable enough to wear with no socks, which is rare, and they look cute under jeans. I'm not wearing the pink ones much but am wearing the yellow ALL THE TIME. Including now :o

Duo also do width fitted shoes. They are more pricey and TBH I don't usually get excited about their shoes (unlike their boots, which I LOVE)

slug · 11/05/2012 14:28

these? or these? Both come in wide fittings

FunnysInLaJardin · 11/05/2012 14:35

I wear wedges every day through the summer for work and do loads of walking. Why are wedges not a work shoe? If they have a platform at the front they don't feel high at all

CrackedNipplesSuchFun · 11/05/2012 14:51

I love wedges and have issue with them at all, as you say, it doesn't feel like you are walking in heels at all, which is fantastic Grin. I personally just see them as a casual shoe. That said it depends on what you do as a job. I was a boring IFA and I just never felt it looked right with my work wear. I'm odd I think when it comes to fashion... I can't abide navy and black together either Sad but that's an entirely separate issue Grin

Sorry for vein so judgemental with my previous though I really didn't mean any offence. Blush

CrackedNipplesSuchFun · 11/05/2012 14:52

Sorry that should read *NO issue

Bloody sausage fingers!!!

FunnysInLaJardin · 11/05/2012 16:48

no offense takenGrin. In my line of work they are fine, but I can see that with a suit they might seem a tad casual

ecuse · 11/05/2012 20:02

My wedges are suede / patent leather so quite smart enough for suit or worky dress. Would agree that the more typical espadrille type wedge no good for work. Much kinder on feet than normal high heels tho.

ForFoxsGlacierMints · 11/05/2012 20:09

I like these

ilove · 11/05/2012 21:44

They are nice forfoxes BUT they have that awful elasticated center bit to squidge the podge on my feet :(
