Help me accessorise this bridesmaid dress.

So this is the bridesmaid dress my SIL has chossen for us to wear.

here

I am going to need it taken up as I am stupidly short. Is it going to look awful on a very pear shaped shorty?

But, I digress.... I need shoes. Would cream or a pale gold look ok? I confess I am not a heels girl so will be looking for something not too high and I was hoping not to have a really thin heel too fussy cow

Also, will a shrug look stupid? Is it too busy at the top for one? And jewellery?

This is hurting my brain! I want to love this dress. I do love the colour --even though it will clash with my red hair-

And I am on a stupidly low budget.

Help :(

Is she not choosing the shoes etc? Is it a summer wedding? Would gold or silver strappy sandals do?

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 09/05/2012 18:15

No we get to pick our own shoes.

It's an informal summer wedding. This dress goes with her general colour scheme. She has thing in an antique pale type gold which is why I thought that would be nice.

tbh I'd get whatever colour you think you're most likely likely to reuse - you won't see much of them :)

btw Hobbs make the most comfy (yet elegant) low heel shoes IME. Pricey though.

Thanks sarky.

Hobbs looked good but out of my price range :(

Everyone is avoiding telling me the truth about my big hipped shortness :o

I love that dress. Think it will flatter almost any figure!

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 10/05/2012 08:58

Aww thanks wips. I thought everyone was politely ignoring me because they don't want to say "yes OP, you will look stupid. And so will your shrug!"

:o

I would recommend silver, sparkly sandals to go with that dress - you don't have to go for a high heel but a mid or kitten heel will look elegant and still be comfortable. Debenhams and House of Fraser both do a wide selection of shoes that are reasonably priced. In order to ensure they're comfy on the day wear them around the house beforehand with some socks (looks ridiculous but so worth it to avoid any rubbing!) I'd also take some ballet pumps or flat sandals to slip on in the evening just in case (and so you can really let loose on the dance floor!)

As the neckline already has a lot of draping going on I wouldn't wear anything around your neck - a nice sparkly silver cuff on your wrist to match your shoes would be lovely though and some matching stud or dangly earrings that will catch the light as you turn your head. Accessorise do a wide range of inexpensive jewellery so I would definitely look there if I were you.

As for your red hair clashing with the dress - trust me it won't, it'll look lovely! Personally I would wear my hair up with that dress (if it's long enough to put up) - it'll look so elegant.

Have an amazing day!

Thanks Anna!

I am wearing my hair up. If I can get it right that is. Been practising but it's not been easy as I'm a pony tail or clip girl :)

I will have a look around at silver stuff then. Thats probably easier in a small budget really. Thanks :)
