And which make? Needs to be big-barrelled for big curls. Don't say BBH or curling wand, I've tried both :)

Tongs are generally better for a definite curl, rollers more volume iyswim. I've got some great jumbo ones from Boots, they cost about £10 a couple of years ago.

Salamanda · 09/05/2012 11:25

Ok, I'm after curl more than volume so maybe it's tongs I need. Thanks Alan!

If you can afford it try a cloud nine curling wand. I love it, it's the new company that was ghd.

Salamanda · 09/05/2012 11:36

What happened to GHD sleepless? Or do you just mean they are as good as GHD? Will have a look!

Do you mean this sleepless? That's insanely expensive!

The owners of ghd got divorced I was told and the man started cloud nine. If you believe the hype ghd are no longer made to the old standards and cloud nine still are??? Who knows but it works so well I had to buy one even though I have never spent that much before!

It's faster than straightening and you can do tight or loose curls. I start tight and after a couple of days it's still good, wavy with some definition and people have always commented on how lucky iam to have such great hair!!! (when I do it, otherwise it's thick and bouffant).

TinySarah · 09/05/2012 11:44

Cloud Nine are great but seriously, 118 £?? I'll leave that stuff to the hairdressers. I use a Babyliss Soft Wave, cheap but it's working fine.

Salamanda · 09/05/2012 11:47

Stop it sleepless you're tempting me! But no, £118 is ridiculous.

The Babyliss soft waves looks great TinySarah

Yeah I was tempted by the babyliss but after a few trials at the hairdresser I invested in what I knew. It does make my hair shiny. I expect 10 years from it!!!!

sleeplessinsuburbia · 09/05/2012 11:57

Also my hair is way too thick for curlers. Whichever you get if you're rushed for time just do big curls on the bottom half (don't worry about missed chunks) then a few tightish curls round your face and randomly all over. Spray, wait a minute and brush keeping a few more defined curls around your face. Hmm, that sounds terrible, practice!

Salamanda · 09/05/2012 11:59

haha, no those a good tips sleepless :)
