Well done, I follow all those blogs mentioned and really rate them all.

Possibly the first DM article I have enjoyed. :)

mrsebojones · 08/05/2012 08:03

Yes, Huzzah to all you bloggers Smile
I refuse to buy DM and DH certainly would not let me in the house with it so I read it online. It made a fun read. As a busy working mum of 2, I can relate to these blogs and whilst they don't all feature things I would necessarily wear myself, I like seeing what other women are wearing. yes, I'm nosey Wink
I was fascinated by some of the negative comments that the article received. So because women with children still want to look their best they are selfish and neglectful? Because a woman with children wants to write a blog they are delusional wannabes? Absolute trot!
As part of my job, I undertake structured work with women, many of whom are from very disadvantaged backgrounds, to try and raise self confidence, self esteem and raise the expectations that they can have in life as a woman. One of the things I always teach is the powerful effect of 'women judging other women'. Often very harshly and very negatively. Those comments are a prime example.

Well said MBJ.

I agree. I enjoy all the blogs mentioned (but not The Daily Mail ...). They make me smile and I can judge your outfits without having to do it to your faces! But where do these people get off with their comments? Some parents follow football, others follow fashion. It doesn't stop them being parents, it lets them be PEOPLE. Isn't it GOOD to have something you enjoy especially if it lets you connect with other people? It makes you wonder whether they dance attendance on their sprogs from dawn to dusk and indeed how those sprogs turn out. Makes me feel all ranty and Daily Mail -y!
So thank you bloggers - and actually thank you Daily Mail for a good article, but no thanks to a load of weirdos posting. Must go now - have children and dogs being ignored elsewhere!

Aw...thanks pebbles...have had an amazing 24hours. Knew the comments would be vicious on the DM so that helped prepare me. I can tell you they have been well overtaken by the positive messages I've received on Twitter, FB, email and on the blog itself. It's not for everyone and I'm certainly no style guru or expert - it's just my bit of fun while I'm at home with the kids. Thanks Thanks to all my MN friends too. The support on here has been great right from the start. :)

Suburban Style, Style Guile & Cocomamastyle are also MN members so hats off to them too. We've all (including Poppy's Style & Doesmybumlook40inthis) become friends through the blogging and the process of the DM article and that's been the best bit. :)

A great write up for all. Well done ladies. We're all working to speak up for the mums out there who, while we love fashion mags, need something a bit more realistic for our busy lives.

And each to their own. If readers don't need or want style inspiration, lucky them! ;-)
xx
