My littlest was 2 yesterday. I feel I have really aged since I had him. We have had a really stressful time (emigrated to NZ) so that may play a part, but I just feel my skin has really gone down hill.
It is dry and papery, still spotty though (thanks for that!) and I am noticing creping when I smile. I'm only in my early 30's,so wtaf?!
I had restalyn in my nose to mouth lines - which I felt had really become apparant in the last year - just before we left in Sept. But it was a nurse that came to my house (el cheapo) and I didn't notice any difference really.
I am pregnant again,so can't have more...also it is very expensive here and we are skint!
But,I'm desperate to feel good about myself again.
Any ideas?

Hiya, u sound like me. My skin is rubbish since dd2. I was advised that sugar is bad for ur skin and as a I consume a lot, I've cut down and can see an improvement. Go to an nz equivalent of boots and speak to the skin are specialist, it doesn't have to be pricey, just find a range suitable for you. Lots of water is good too.

I felt the same after having DS (am also early 30s). I had a skin consultation with a local beauty therapist and it turned out that it was mainly down to dehydration, sorted with drinking more water and a more suitable skincare regime (all much better tailored to my skin type). Is there somewhere you could go for a consultation? Otherwise have a look at the sizzle thread on here - a peel might be another way to get your skin looking more refined.

Drinking water certainly isn't going to do any harm. Have you tried Liquid Gold ? I think Alpha-H is a company based in your part of the world and this treatment has really helped my grey and congested skin. You wipe some on every other night and that's it! Also, try one of those temporary wrinkle fillers that you get in drugstores. I have an Olay one and pat some over wrinkles I hate after applying makeup. I think it does help a bit although it's not a cure!

Would highly recommend a dermal roller. I noticed a reduction in lines and plumper skin within a month. You need 0.2mm roller for home use and theres loads of tutorials online
It really does make a visible improvement to your skin

OOh,a dermal roller. I'll have to investigate.Am also guilty of not drinking enough water...going for a wee evry 20 mins annoys me! I will have to make aconcerted effort.

What about a facial peel?

AngryBeaver · 09/05/2012 00:32

Have had one of those...although I don't think it could have been a hardcore one!
Have been looking into the dermaroller...seems good.I'll have to look into if I can get it shipped to nz without breaking the bank

I have tried many cleansing products, expensive moisturisers but I'm currently using the oil cleansing method and my skin has never been better. Really cheap so not much lost if it doesn't work for you.

Hi AB, I'm in NZ too (have been lurking on your NZ threads). Have you tried rosehip oil? Trilogy (NZ brand) make a lovely one. It's about $30 for a wee bottle, which lasts for months. Apply a couple of drops to clean skin before moisturiser (SPF in NZ!) it sinks right in and is great for dry skin. Farmers has a 3 for 2 deal at the moment. Their moisturisers and cleansers are all good too

AngryBeaver · 09/05/2012 05:43

I think I've heard of the oil cleansing method,I'll have to google it,thanks snowmummy.

Hi Zachary, well thanks for that!I'll defo hotfoot it down to farmers. I think Miranda Kerr has just been in the papers saying she uses the trilogy rosehip stuff,I thought I might give it a try but then couldn't remember the name. Yes,to spf!!
I do think the dermaroller sounds good too. I have asked for it for mothers day!
I think a big part of it is actually pretty simple,I don't drink enough water! It's laziness really.
