How do I cure <gulp> skanky feet?

Hi, my name is Carpe and I have skanky feet.

Ahem Grin

Anyway, they're not truly horrible, in need of a chiropodist vile - I have no warts/ingrowing toenails/infections. They're just not summer worthy.

I get a lot of peeling skin on the underside of my big toe and ball of my foot, hard skin on my heels and I'll be honest, I have no idea how to deal with them.

I know I don't have time for nail varnish every day - so I'm looking for help making them look lovely - as nature intended, but with a bit of help IYSWIM!

Can all you lovely people please tell me how you get sandal lovely feet? Product recommendations would be fabulous (cheaper the better!)

For hard skin on heels, you need a cream with urea in it, such as Flexitol, sold specifically for heels. Sand heels down a bit with file, run in toothpaste-sized blob of cream twice daily to start, then once, then a few times a week as needed. Cream is expensive, but lasts ages as you don't need much, and it really, really works.

The Soap and Glory foot file, about which there have been many threads on here, is brilliant and agree you need Flexitol. It's good for fingertips/cuticles too.

You also need to make sure you wash and dry thoroughly in between your toes every day, peeling skin might be because it is too damp.

As for nail varnish, base coat, two colour coats and a top coat lasts 3 weeks on me, so it isn't too much bother and makes such a difference. My favourite toe colour is Rimmel Urban Purple.

I'd recommend a one off appointment at a chiropodist - they'll remove all the hard skin for you. Then you'll just have to maintain with foot files and cream

A pedicure.

WhatWouldCodSay · 07/05/2012 14:51

Flexitol

WhatWouldCodSay · 07/05/2012 14:51

ooops

Flexilot

Flexitol stinks though, like wet sheep. I prefer Scholl Cracked Heel Cream and find it more effective as well, Flexitol will only take you so far before it stops getting any better.

Apply after thorough filing with Soap and Glory Foot buffer. After a week or two, you can probably stop the heel cream and just make sure you use a foot lotion every morning and evening. I use Soap and Glory Heel Genius at the moment but I also like Body Shop Peppermint Foot Lotion. If I didn't follow this regime I would have terrible feet. But they are peachy fresh now.

What about old lady toenails? No-one warned me about old lady toenails...

CarpeJugulum · 08/05/2012 09:18

Next question please?!

I have a foot cream with urea in it - CCS Foot cream.

Is this any good? How do I know?

Will now investigate food buffers! Grin
