Dd2 been really poorly for a week, so has been bed/couch a lot and has the nost incredbile mass of matted hair. Normally v silky and easy to brush but is now just in an absolute mess. As she's felt so rough and feeble attempts by me to tease it out has been too much for her.

Her temp has peaked now and she is a bit better, going to wash hair later and do the lashings of conditioner and tangle teazer etc but she won't be very co-operative. Have squirted baby oil in it pre-bath, but any super tips wud be gratefully received. Can't cut it as it starts at ear level. Ta everso!

Leave the conditioner on as long as she'll stand it, and while it's still wet and and slippery, use tangle teaser or comb and start at the bottom of the mess working up, not from top down.

If she wont let you leave conditioner in get some spray on leave in conditioner from boots, its only about a £1. Lovely scents too.

Oh and if she will/can, have her grip the hair near to her scalp as tight as possible so you're pulling the hair from her grip, rather than her scalp.

I've been told, that blowing a hair dryer at it helps.

Otherwise I'd wait another couple of days and use a Tangleteaser and do a bit at a time

www.tangleteezer.com/products.php

Start at £8 available in Boots, hairdressers etc as well as in internet

IME sunflower oul is better than baby oil, much more slippery. I just use a comb and start at the bottom of the mass (holding the top so it doesn't pull) and gently comb it out.

Good luck, in any case!

Well that went terribly, couldn't even stand gentle finger combing with lashings of conditioner. She's normally quite tough so I know she's still not feeling well Sad

Going to have to give it another go tomorrow, wish me luck, if it was at shoulder height, I'd give her a bob, she'd look lovely, but a basin is not a good look....

Thx for the suggestions.
