thingies you can get in Boots etc work? Am wanting to go au naturel and let the cobwebs shine Grin

Has anyone used them on similar hair to mine and what was the result?

My hair is auburn and I've used the removal stuff in the past when I got carried away with a deep cherry red one Christmas, it worked brilliantly. The only downside was seeing how much grey there was lurking below.

You mean the colour remover Colour B4?

Yes, it should work. I'd recommend you get the extra strength one. You MUST follow the instructions to the letter though, especially the rinsing part.

In most cases, this product can leave your tresses with a gingery tone. Great if its what you want. If it isn't, don't panic. You can apply another Colour B4 again if need be, or apply a one bottle 8 wash (loving care, nice and easy) in a light ash brown - immediately after to wet hair. This should banish any brassy orangey tones left by Colour B4.

Whatever you do, after using Colour B4, don't put on a permanent colour, as this will make your hair dark again. You must wait at least 4 weeks after Colour B4 before putting a permanent colour on,and choose a shade lighter than what you want to be safe. You can apply a semi (24 wash) after Colour B4, again using a lighter shade, but i think its much safer to use just the 8 wash dyes if need be. hth.

Agree with delta. So in answer to the op, no, you will not go back to your au naturel appearance. You will go orange. I know because I have done it. I am also going au naturel. I have had some high lights to break up the dark and cut my hair a bit shorter ( chin length bob). Currently going cold turkey on the dye and have 3-4 cm or roots. The high lights are too light though so will probably have some low lights soon.

Oh, do not use a 2 part colour for a week after colour b4. That includes a semi. A light ash brown temp colour would be good after. I have used permanent colour a week after and it's been fine. Beware, anything you apply will look darker than expected after colour b4.

I too am in the same boat and really hate my too dark hair. I've been toying with the idea of trying the colour b4 but am too scared.
I've read before about the orangeness (didn't know about not using a perm colour) but would putting a semi over it be ok or as I fear would just be ginger instead of dark brown Sad
Know I should let a hairdresser sort it

I am the same and tried the Colour B4 recently. Disaster! The different brands of home colouring products I've used over the years (no brand loyalty I'm a special offer slut) were removed in different depths, the XXL not shifting at all. So I had some grey roots, ginger and not in a nice way on the top, and very dark brown ends where years of colour had been absorbed.

Some things are best left to the professionals.

Oh that's what I was afraid of Sad

Bugger! Was hoping some one would say it worked a breeze...

I like ginger hair, but there's a big difference bewteen beautiful flaming red ginger and washed out, dye stripped reddish 'meh' ginger...

Sigh, will just have to go cold turkey...
