those fingerprint charm necklaces

My mum turns 60 this year. Her and my Dad (who also turning 60) have had lots of fun experiences this year so we have ruled out things like a hot air ballon ride, spa day etc).

Would like to get her a meaningful, keepsake type of present. She is not big into clothes, jewelry etc but would probably like something plain and classy.

Was wondering with my 3 siblings about getting her one of those necklaces where you have fingerprints done as charms and having one of each of our prints done for her. Our budget is approx £100.

So questions

Is this a nice present or a bit tacky?
Is it a bit self obsessed? (i.e would our fingerprints really be a nice present for her, I know I'd love one of my 3 children but would most people??).
Where is a good place to get one? looked online, some places look a bit claires- accessorisey and others are way to expensive)

Any other ideas welcome (especially from people who have turned 60 themselves, what did you get that you loved?)

I'm not keen on these but would think it even weirder if someone had one made with adult fingerprints - I thought you had them made to immortalise the tinyness of your children's baby hands?

We bought my mum some whitby jet jewelery which went down well but it was an area of the country that had a special significance for her.

I would be very chuffed if someone got me a classic scarf - McQueen skulls, Louis Vuitton leopard print etc. I love scarves but it is just too much money to spend on yourself so I have lots of Zara imitations, but would be thrilled if DH picked up on my hints. Mind you I am not 60!

I bought my early sixties dad an iPad this year. He had been interested in various electronic devices belonging to my children but I knew that he would never buy anything himself. He is PC literate though and already had a reasonable desktop. He loves it and uses it all the time. Might be over your budget to buy one but I could imagine a Kindle might similarly go down well if your mum is a reader. Sorry - not very style and beauty suggestion!

I love them but think its a bit odd to have cult fingerprints done, sorry!

Adult obviously!

I agree that it might be a bit strange. What about something incorporating all of her children's birthstones instead? It's still personalised but not so obvious.

You're right it would be weird to have adult fingerprints done. Thinking about it everyone I know who has them has baby ones! Don't know why that didn't click before!!

I don't think it is strange to have adult ones done. I have my dds when they were tiny (1 and 3), but later when I thought about it I wished I'd added DH's too. I don't wear them round my neck, but keep them in a box and may put them on my keys or something. I think I would be really happy to have my dds done as adults too.For me its more the connection of touching a finger, than the baby size of them, that I like.
