Liz Earle - persist or give up?

I thought I would try Liz Earle skincare to try and sort my congested blackheady combination skin. I did have a couple of hormonal spots on my chin when I started at the beginning of the week. The hot cloth polish did seem to get rid of blackheads and left my skin feeling good once I put on the cream for combination skin. However the zits have spread across both cheeks and chin. It's been a long time since I;ve had skin so bad. Anyone else experienced their skin getting worse before it gets better? Should I just stop now? or is it all the yucky stuff being brought to the surface and next week it will be ok again do you think?

Weird- I posted a very similar thread last week, but alas no replies. Mmmm ..maybe it is me. Have sinced stopped Liza Earle, I should have given it longer, but hated the spots. I'm back on ocm, which I do love, but I just wanted to see what LE was like as I keep hearing it's the best thing since sliced bread, so sorry, no advice, just some of my experience.

I'm a big fan of liz earle and I always encourage people to persist as its made my skin terrible at first but then it all really improved and now i have great skin when previously i had very congested combination skin.

I know some people find it never works for them but for me and the other people I know who use it, we all found it needed a bit of persistence. When I forgot to take it away with me for a month and then started using it again, the same thing happened.

I imagine its just drawing out all the impurities and getting rid of them.

So how long should I give it do you think Ruby?

And thanks Spookey. I used Eve Lom preDC when I had money to burn and it was pretty good hence desire to try Liz Earle whcih seemed a similar idea to me. I've not tried OCM.

I love the cleaner but don't think the moisturiser is so good. Would just use cleanser and a different moisturiser. Have read same on MN from others.

I have not tried Ocm but I love liz earle cleanser. I don't use the moisturiser as it doesn't seem to agree with my skin but I love the hot cloth cleanser.

Maybe you are allergic to something in the products?

Try dermalogica microfoliant, tis fab!

I've just converted to trilogy gentle cleanser from liz Earle. I loved cleanse and polish but my eyes used to tingle too much in the end- especially on no sleep.

No spots no tingle love it.

It always gives me spots too (and I've been trying it off and on for about 10 years - pre internet! eek!) - lately I've been reading that the camphor in it is just too much for many people's skin, so it could be that. It also has the double delight of dry, flakey bits so it's a big no from me. I use Emma Hardie now and, along with Season's aciiiiiiiiiiiiid, have the best skin of my life! (which probably wont' last long given my 40th looming large)

EssentialFattyAcid · 04/05/2012 19:55

knitknack what kind of skin do you have?

mosschops30 · 04/05/2012 20:00

The liz earle counter told me to try it for minimum of a month as thats a skins full cycle.
I got spots at first, but have been using for a few months now and have the best skin ive ever had
