GHDs...are they worth it?

Have recently decided to try & make a bit more effort with my appearance but my hair straighteners are getting past it. Are GHDs that much better than other straighteners & worth the money? Not that I can afford any right now but would like a few opinions

I can't remember life before my ghds they are definitely the best straighteners I have ever used. Plus mine are 5 years old and stil going strong so worth every penny! Grin

Ive had mine about 8 years and they work just as well now as they ever did. I know they're supposed to be damaging to your hair but mine has never dried out or gone frizzy even after years of straightening. If mine died I'd definitely get another set. I ummed and ahhd before buying them because of the price but they've really been great value for money.

Yes.

they are made of special magic. I can't explain it, but yes they are so much better than other straighteners.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/05/2012 21:02

Yes.

Mine are 9 years old and still work brilliantly. Not that I use them much any longer, but they are a godsend on the occasional bad hair day.

I have just ordered new ones. After 8 years of long hair they are on their last legs [sob].

LynetteScavo · 03/05/2012 21:11

Yes. Smile

mosschops30 · 03/05/2012 21:18

Yes they are the best.

Ive had mine for 9 years now and theyre still going Smile. they are used every day, couldnt live without them and woudnt hesitate to buy another set.

The basic ones are about £99 from GHD

NagooIsBuildingAnArk · 04/05/2012 09:59

You can get them for £80 ATM says the mn link on s&b and also Martin Lewis

Pinkglow · 04/05/2012 11:03

I have two pairs Blush one of the thicker ones and then the normal ones.
Had them both for at least 9 years so yes worth every penny

KellyKapowski · 04/05/2012 11:12

Yes. They have literally been life changing for me, no exaggeration!

My hair was a big ball of curly frizz before I got them, my current set are about 8 years old so you do get your moneys worth out of them.

Yes. My hair is very wiry and kinks rather than curls. GHDs are the only straighteners that work for me - I'd be lost without them!

PinkChampagneandStrawberries · 04/05/2012 17:32

Yes absolutely

ZenNudist · 04/05/2012 17:34

Yes much better than any other brand I've used when borrowing friends'. I don't use mine often nowadays ( no time to make an effort & dry my hair out) but had 'em 9 years so worth spending more as they'll last you.

So what make them so much better than say any other straighteners that heat up to the same temperature?
