Is it weird to shave/wax/defluff your arms?

I looked at my arm hair yesterday glinting in the sunlight and wanted to shave it off and be all smooth. Mine is v fair but still...

Is this weird?

Do you do it?

Should I?

Noooooo don't do it!

I did it once, and arm stubble growing back looks hideous.

juneybean · 02/05/2012 10:26

I used to do it when I was in school and now it's fairly dark... so I just leave it now, I never know whether to believe the "it'll grow back thicker" tosh because my hair always has grown back darker.

Pinot · 02/05/2012 10:27

oh god arm stubble :o haha hadn't thought that through.

I don't do it but plenty of people do. You'll be told off I fear, but they're your arms and you should do as you please!

Probably better to wax rather than shave though, arm stubble doesn't sound too appealing.

jennifersofia · 02/05/2012 10:28

I know someone who did, and yes, it is weird.

ThisWeekonFancyPuffin · 02/05/2012 10:29

I'm tempted to do this.

Also I have a beard and mustache but it's that fine blonde fluff, should I remove and how?

Sorry for mini hijack lovely Pinot Smile

X-Post Blush

Pinot · 02/05/2012 10:29

'ello puffin darling :)

Shall we do it?

I always get rid of the 'tache. Even if it's fine and fair, it still glints

I did it when I was 10. It went stubbly.

Being blessed with werewolf arms I now trim it and bleach it every so often.

thisweek The Boots own or Parissa waxing strips are pretty good for top lips. The Parissa ones are very sticky though so best once you've got the knack of it.

exexpat · 02/05/2012 10:31

I have quite hairy arms (but very pale hair) and have never removed it. I used to live in Japan and felt quite self-conscious sometimes, because as well as most Japanese women being naturally less hairy than Westerners, it is common there to remove arm hair.

I really couldn't be bothered with it and got used to feeling like a Neanderthal, but then I also didn't fit in with other Japanese feminine norms, like always wearing make-up, or wearing tights in the summer.

I suppose if you are generally a fairly groomed type of person and you like wearing sleeveless tops in the summer it might appeal.

hotheels · 02/05/2012 10:36

*I do it as although blonde hairs by arms do resemble a gorilla when I don't de-fuzz

ThisWeekonFancyPuffin · 02/05/2012 10:36

Do you think we will look like pod people though?

My tash isn't too bad but my cheeks/sideburns are doing the glinting thing. Is hair removal cream best? I keep reading that you shouldn't bother when it's blonde/fine but but I don't want a hairy face like a blonde wookie

LumpyLatimer · 02/05/2012 10:37

No.

Hairless arms look dead odd.

I can understand why people with very olive skin/thick luscious arm-pelts might want to do it but fair hair?! Non!

Also don't shave your muff unless you are prepared to be stabbed in the minge by your own stubble over the course of the next month, but that's not for here...

Pinot · 02/05/2012 10:39

Wah!

I was all ready to do it and now Lumpy throws in a spanner. And an amusing anecdote about minge stabbing :o

No, no, no! As long as you lather on tbd Vaseline after shaving your foof you won't get stubble rash Grin

hotheels · 02/05/2012 10:45

lumpy I look odder with hairy arms than with hairless arms Wink

LumpyLatimer · 02/05/2012 10:48

I just think it's nice to look human and strong and sensual and ALIVE, you know? Animally. Dangerous. As of nature.

I mean. look at this woman. Way too busy shagging in caves and emitting a powerful stench of sandalwood and sex to be worrying about the glint of sunlight upon her arm hair. Indeed, I imagine the glint of sunlight upon her armhair emits a sort of Morse-code of lust.

I realise not everyone thinks looking like a Celtic warlock is a good thing Grin

LumpyLatimer · 02/05/2012 10:49

hotheels really?!

It's all the shaving round corners that troubles me, minge-wise. But as I say, that's another thread And I cannot defend a bare minge when I don't shave my pits

hotheels · 02/05/2012 10:54

Celtic warlock? What a fantastic idea for a nick name!!
Yes its true for me lumpy Smile

Pinot · 02/05/2012 11:02
