I got a sample after seeing them mentioned on another thread... But I confess I don't really understand what they are or what's so great about them?

The one I got (Garnier?) seems like something between a tinted moisturiser and a light foundation, but leaves my face feeling a bit, well, sticky, initially.

Which ones do you like/recommend?

How should they be used? After moisturising as usual or does one ditch the moisturiser? What are the benefits over a tinted moisturiser/foundation?

Or should I just not bother?

I rarely use foundation, just a little pressed powder after moisturising, but as i'm getting on a bit, my skin is a little blotchy and I'm thinking a better base is called for - but not keen on full foundation on a daily basis...

Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

Yikes there is some expensive s* out there!

Another vote for No7 (for dry skin very pale yet skin), nice amount of coverage with a bit of powder on top. I tried the garnier one but didn't really like it. I might try no17 next time if I don't have a £5 off voucher though as it's probably the same stuff in different packaging.

Maybelline have just released one and I think the 'light' shade is lighter than Garnier (which also stung my eyes). I've bought one to try - £7.99 at Tesco who have got 3 for 2 on all make up.

I think BB is just another word for tinted moisturiser isn't it?

And this one says on the tube it can be worn with or without moisturiser if that helps.

I've had the Garnier & initially really liked it (fair/combo skin) but it does sting my eyes and I think accentuates my fine lines.
I order the smashbox BB yesterday as it gets good reviews on makeup alley, has anyone tried it? X
