Im off for a short break in June and dont know what people wear to go. Will be doing lots of cycling and swimming so obviously a swimsuit is a must. Do people dress up or wear sporty stuff? Would like to look reasonably nice.

Im 5'4" size 12 more 14 I guess. Huge norks 32gg hourglass shape.

Links would be lovely.

We went last July and had such a good time we have booked to go back this Christmas! You will have a fab time. I found that generally it was very casual. I had packed some 'smarter' clothes for evening meals out but we ended up not wearing them. DH thought we would look like we were going to a wedding as everyone else was really so casual! Most useful stuff as follows:
Day:
Pumps
flip flops
swimming costume
shorts / skirt
chinos / jeggings / jeans
Hoody / sweatshirt / zip up top
T-shirts and vest tops

Evening:
wedge sandals
'smart' jeans / chinos
pretty blouse or cami top
cardigan

billgrangersrisotto · 29/04/2012 13:17

Agree. No need whatsoever for dressing up. Casual all the way.

leobeebs · 29/04/2012 13:25

Thanks, that puts my mind at rest. Could do with some new casual type clothes. Can someone help please Ive lost the way!!! You all sound super stylish.

Try Oasis for their 'Scarlet' bootcut jeans. Their short length is still a bit long for me (am 5' 2) so I have to wear them with heeled boots, but they should be fine with Converse type shoes for you. They are very flattering but you may need a belt to avoid gaping a bit at the back.

If you want skinnies, M&S do black things called 'Treggings' which are made of a lovely soft cottony fabric and are only about 22 pounds. They sound frightful but are very flattering, especially if you have decent legs. Nice with a long line Breton.

leobeebs · 29/04/2012 15:10

Thanks Remus they soud good. My legs I think are big especially the calves not sure my tree trunks would look ok? Have you any links for flattering breton? Would love one to suit my norks. Did try the boden one and it was a hideous fit.

some ideas:
The M&S jeggings a denim pair and the blue pair would be good
Lands End Breton nicer shape to it than the Boden one
Flattering M&S costume
Converse
joules denim skirt
sandals

leobeebs · 29/04/2012 16:06

Thanks mrs bo. Love the breton, swimsuit (do you think it would contain my 32gg?) and the denim skirt. Are there any codes hanging about for joules?

More linkys would be lovely.

Do these suggestions apply to all the Parcs? Are some more dressy than others?

I'm going for the first time this summer! Grin

mrsebojones · 29/04/2012 18:01

I went to Elvedon which was decidedly relaxed... I haven't been to the others, so can't comment. We spent most of our days swimming, walking, cycling or playing specific sports like ping pong, badminton etc... In the evenings we did 10 pin bowling or ate out at one of the restaurants.
As I said, DH has booked for us to go back for 5 nights this xmas. DC are 9 and 7 and are thrilled. There are lots of activities on offer - DH is booking me a spa day as a xmas present this time - so I guess think about what you will be doing while there when packing.

leobeebs · 29/04/2012 18:32

What kind of tops are suitable. Im really conscious about my evergrowing bust particularly in vest tops.

Im kind of stuck in a rut clothes wise and love looking a things you pick as I wouldnt normally look at them.

NewMatic · 29/04/2012 22:12

People look shit at cp

Fleece. Walking boots berghaus jeans.
It's not glamorous. Really.

DinahMoHum · 29/04/2012 23:14

there is no dress code, everyone is concentrating on their own holiday

MaeMobley · 30/04/2012 00:59

In my experience it is Boden and Joules all the way at CP.

AmberNectarine · 30/04/2012 07:31

Ahem, excuse me NewMatic, I'll be setting off for CP in a matter of hours and won't be looking shit! I'll be wearing J brands, Maje and Acne today.

OP, wear what you like, feel good in and can ride a bike in! No one will judge you. Have a fab time!

lumbago · 30/04/2012 08:13

Lol

It's static with fleece.

leobeebs · 05/05/2012 12:34

Had a lovely time in spite of wet weather. Stuck to uniform of skinnies, nice tops and cardis, and stayed in my Hunters and Barbour pretty much full time!

Saw a real mix of outfits, but they erred on the side of casual and practical ignores woman in hot pants braving the torrential downpour
