HELP! i've ruined some shoes I wanted to retun...anything I can do?

Oh gawd- can anyone help me? I've just had some shoes delivered and tried them on with a new gel pad in- like an inner sole- and it has left an imprint, like a greasy mark the shape of the innersole- in the shoe.

They are open toed wedgies so the marking is obvious.

I was unsure about them but thinking of returning but now I can't- or can I?

I ordered them from Dune.

Can anyone tell me if they will take them back like this or how i can remove the image of the inner sole from the inside of the shoe.

Baby wipes?

I am not joking!

Bluepetticoat · 26/04/2012 16:07

It's a kind of greasy mark.

I've tried a tiny bit of nail varnish remover- no difference.

Haven't got any wipes. I think the inner sole is leather which is why the marks have occured.

I think anything greasy will make it worse- was thinking of white spirit?
otherwise i think I'll have to Ebay them as new Sad

But if its not simply a superficial mark, they probably won't accept them back...

They can't resell them in that condition...

Bluepetticoat · 26/04/2012 16:14

I know that is why I am mortified.

It looks like an imprint from the inner sole which must have had some kind of sticky coating, which I wasn't aware of. I've never used these gel inner soles but have tried them out in a few pairs of shoes at home and they have never marked anything before.

Return them to store and say you.re not happy cos they look like they,ve been Worn??? Is that really bad?

valiumredhead · 26/04/2012 16:35

I would do the same as Ruby Grin

Bluepetticoat · 26/04/2012 16:36

This is so unlike me, but if I pack them with the tissue- the imprint is just on the toe part not the whole sole- they would not see it.

I am so upset. They were £65. They are something I might wear but they are just a bit high for every day use.

I think I will have to keep them and either wear them a little, or Ebay them.

Send them back, see what happens. You have nothing to lose.

catsareevil · 26/04/2012 16:45

They might no accept them back if they are marked, I imagine that suffing the shoes with tissue would probably alert the staff to look closely at the shoes.

SuePurblyingoodVOICE · 26/04/2012 16:53

could you not return them because of the large mark on one sole? Grin
Complete with outraged note of course.

Bluepetticoat · 26/04/2012 17:11

Hmmm.

The mark has faded a little- think whatever is on the gel inner soles has sunk in a little. it's barely noticeable on one shoe now.

it's more obvious on one shoe than the other.

The dilemma is that I quite like them but they are just a little high and I doubt if they would get much wear.

I think I will just have to think hard over whether I really want them- and if not, then I think posting back is the best option- or taking back to a store and simply say that the sole is a little marked insdie if they look and query.

honesty is the best option.

Crikey MNers have no moral compass, lately. Shock

Thread full of gloats about supermarket undercharging;

people saying here they would falsely claim the shoes arrived already damaged;

I thought I read that someone had bought an Argos sewing machine, made her project with it, and wanted to take it back pretending it was unused & buy a different one. I kept thinking I read it wrong but that's what OP seemed to say (the only replies were advice about which sewing machine to get instead).

I am no saint, but FFS. :(

valiumredhead · 26/04/2012 18:47

Oh please ragged!!!

trixymalixy · 26/04/2012 18:49

I think there'd only be a problem taking them back if the sole had been damaged by wearing them outside.
