Lovely lush curly hair gone dry post baby (and also perimenopausal). Any recommendations to improve it?

Hi all

My hair has always been my crowning glory (unlike my bum).

Since I had my DS 16 months ago it has lost a lot of curls and gone dry - little frizzy bits. I have a great hairdresser but to no avail. I tried layering it more but the short the curls get, the less curly they are...

I am taking a multi-vitamin, omega oil and flaxseed oil.

Any thoughts for treatments or what I should do? I probably don't drink enough water.

I'll join you on the frizzy mop head bench.

It drives me nuts. And it depresses me. It's like I'm waving goodbye to my young self...

God I know that feeling! Frizzy hair, creases around my eyes........ Bloody depressing isn't it? Grin

Totally. I am drying out slowly - in the right light I might forget, but otherwise it's hard to miss!

How about a coconut oil mask? Some people leave it on overnight, but I can't bear the thought so I put it on early morning and wash off after an hour or two. Gloriously conditioning!

Google the Curly Girl method. Basically the idea is to avoid sulfates and silicones which dehydrate the hair. There are proper forums, etc, loads of info out there.

Most curly girl devotees 'wash' their hair with conditioner. I like the Naked range in boots, Aussie Miracle Moist conditioner. Fructis strength and shine

Original source tea tree and mint

Garnier repair and shine

Dr Organics range - approx £4.99 (Holland and Barrett - in store and online - can get cheaper deals when they run promotions)

Loreal Restore Conditioner (white and red bottle advertised by Cheryl Cole)

There is also some differences in the way they physically treat their hair, but I didn't research that as I have short hair.

Coconut oil is magic.
Just put a blob on from mid lengths to ends and leave on for 20 minutes to few hours. Then wash as normal.
I keep stroking my hair say oh it's sp soft OH thinks a bit weird;)

What about Moroccan oil or argen oil - there was alot on here about it a short time ago. I m sure sure what the uses are but hope
Someone comes along soon.

Coconut oil - get it in Waitrose baby section, it's called Baby massage oil and is a couple of quid. I leave it on over night.
