Need advice re shoes before I get arrested by fashion police

I have just bought some peep toe sling back shoes. So what is the protocol regarding wearing tights? My next door neighbour has very strong opinions on what should be worn with what and I haven't a clue and am very afraid of her. She may talk about me to the rest of the village in rather derogatory terms. Added to my confusion I noticed tights with no toe, wtf is that all about then? I'm a sartorial incompetent, please help me!

No tights.

Karbea · 25/04/2012 15:11

No tights. I think you can just about get away with tights (opaques) if the back of the shoe is filled in, but definitely not any tights with a sling back.

Convict224 · 25/04/2012 15:20

Oh thank you.

(My God, my poor white pasty slightly varicose legs............)

(Weeps)

Or (cheers up a bit) maybe trousers?

why are you so worried about your neighbour's opinion? Grin

ggirl · 25/04/2012 15:22

def no tights with those....unless you are 95yrs old

Ephiny · 25/04/2012 15:27

I'm glad I don't live next door to the fashion police Shock, I dread to think what your neighbour would say about me some days!

Still, don't think tights would look right with those shoes. I guess you could wear trousers if you really don't want to show your legs.

startail · 25/04/2012 15:29

It's even worse here. I live with the commissioner of the fashion police.
She's 11!

Convict224 · 25/04/2012 15:54

Southeastastra, my neighbour is such a cow. I hates her I do. She sneers at everyone and everything and just really intimidates me. She is incredibly opinionated and likes to share same opinions.

I have been overweight for years, 17 stone size 22, and since last year have lost a great deal of weight, 5 1/2stones and am now a 14/16. So yahoo I can now buy nicer stuff but I don't have much confidence as the last 20 years I just wore tents and pants with elasticated waists.

I have two sons in their twenties who think I look lovely no matter what I wear as long as I keep the food piled on their plates, their clothes clean and am prepared to sub them beer tokens when their own funds run low. Startail, I envy you, an 11 year old with a sense of style!

Thanks re the advice. Barelegs it is.... so.....maybe cropped trousers...

If you are worried about pasty legs then fake tan may be your friend. Rommel do a nice wash off one if you don't want the hassle of waiting for it to develop.

Casmama · 25/04/2012 15:59

Rimmel - bloody autocorrect!

Convict224 · 25/04/2012 16:10

I was prepared to do the fake tan when the consensus ruled out tights. Your first post made perfect sense Casmama, as the imagery you conjured included saharan sand and gerbils.......

Anyway its the blueish...... feck I have to face it, they are indisputably blue.... veins that are the main concern. I will see if the fake tan minimises them. I suppose there is no chance that varicose veins will ever be in vogue?

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs gives a bit more coverage than fake tan.
