Which Serum Do You Use?

I was reading some of the great Sali Hughes' columns over the weekend and she kept on mentioning serums. I thought it would be useful to have a thread with what serum you use and what skin type you have.

I have slightly oily but very break out prone skin and use E Lauder Advance Night Repair. There is a huge difference to my skin when I use it.

I tried Liz Earles serum but found it way too greasy for my skin.

I am using Derm Warfare night serum, part of Lulu's Time Bomb range. It's amazing and I have re-purchased. It's got 10% glycolic acid so is a bit stingy but it leaves my skin glowing in the morning. I wouldn't be without it now but originally I was a little sceptical!

NewMatic · 23/04/2012 14:55

one

is bollocks

NewMatic · 23/04/2012 14:55

none even

curiositykilledthekat · 23/04/2012 14:57

Oh and I have oily skin which luckily doesnt break out too much, just the odd spot now and again.

Guerlain's Abeille Royale serum is the best skincare item I ever invested in. (In fact I use the whole Abeille Royale range.) It has done wonders for my uneven skin and sagging jawline. I really can't praise it enough. But the bottom line is that even the very best serums (should that be sera??) will only work on perfectly cleansed skin. I use it as part of my night-time routine, and again in the morning as a primer for my foundation. It has improved my skin tone to such an extent that I now get away with Guerlain's ultra-light Skin Lingerie foundation (and no, I'm not getting a kick-back from Guerlain for recommending their products. Honestly!!)

My favorite is body shop vitamin C serum.

And i've been there and back with expensive designer and techno serums for a few years. keep coming back to body shop.

Siddhartha · 23/04/2012 17:07

oops sorry. normal skin...40 years old Smile

AuntieMaggie · 23/04/2012 17:09

Am currently on day 2 of aldi serum after being impressed with their aqua day cream on my oily skin so fingers crossed.

madmomma · 23/04/2012 17:14

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair day and night. It definitely works for me, and I have normal skin

madmomma · 23/04/2012 17:15

wish I loved a cheaper one though! Am watching for cheaper recommendations

deltawab · 23/04/2012 17:16

I use the multi-intensive, anti-ageing one from Aldi - its fab, blends in lightly and provides a perfect base under make up and only costs £3.49. The day and night creams are brill too. Its the only brand i'll ever use.

deltawab · 23/04/2012 17:17

sorry forgot to add my skin type! i'd say its normal to dry.

NewMatic · 23/04/2012 17:26

I used the EL one. No diff

Eliza22 · 23/04/2012 17:49

The only one that for me, caused people to say " what're you using on your skin, it looks lovely" was Olay 3 Point Serum. Not the cream. Just the serum. I can't afford it at the moment.

Eliza22 · 23/04/2012 17:50

Might try the Aldi one. Am 49 and have dry ish skin now.

snoozingbeauty · 24/04/2012 09:56

I used to use one but this has become a bit of a one stop shop, don't feel the need any more. My purse is relieved. www.mamamio.com/uk/face/mighty-moisture.html ;-)

AuntieMaggie · 25/04/2012 21:43

Day 5 of the aldi one and pleased so far :-)

whackamole · 25/04/2012 21:45

I loved the Body Shop Vit C one, but they have changed the formula and it's not as good anymore Sad they also changed the bottle.

I love Clinique Moisture Surge but haven't actually had a pot in years as it's so expensive. I really want to try the Estee Lauder one.

Eliza22 · 26/04/2012 08:55

Bought the Aldi serum yesterday. Smile

ChiefPotterer · 26/04/2012 12:12

Eliza22 Amazon have the Olay serum for £13 with free delivery!.

Bucharest · 26/04/2012 12:16

Generally Protect and Perfect intense. Is good, def makes a difference in skin tone.

Currently a Gatineau one I got on offer. T'is nice enough but for the ££££s difference wouldn't rebuy.

The more I read these threads the more convinced I am that it's horses for courses, what works for some won't work for others. Like the Olay stuff I thought was shite.

Eliza22 · 26/04/2012 13:36

ChiefPotter.....am a little wary of Amazon beauty stuff since I bought Benefit PosieTint. Or thought I had. Lord knows what was in that container, but it wasn't PosieTint!

Will "do" the Aldi one now as I've bought it. See what that's like. Thanks for the tip, tho' Smile

Eliza22 · 26/04/2012 13:39

Years ago, I had a Guerlain one called Midnight Secret. It was really expensive but, I had no kids then, was single and flush! It was good stuff. I could party late and go to work on 4 hrs sleep. I'd look fine. Of course, it could just have been the fact I was 25!!

SephoraRosebud · 26/04/2012 14:23

I use the EL one in a brown bottle. It does make a bit of a difference but i'm sure I could find something just as good but much cheaper if I looked around.
