At last I have comfortable boots-calling all the peri menopausal women with gammy feet.

My feet have been giving me gyp for the last coupleof years.

I am at the point where comfort on the foot is just about my only consideration when it comes to shoes.

This week I got my Conker boots and they are just brilliant. Light and soft. I went for the pull on boots and my perfect boot quest is now over.

They are expensive but I wear boots for about 8mnths of the year so have resolved that it's actually economical to buy one good pair rather than the piles of rejected ones that I have somehow accumulated.

I was worried that they would look wide and spoon and crunchy like but they are a really nice shape.

Now back to obsessing over Bretons, lipstick and maxi's!

link?

Er... I wish I knew how to....on this here iPad. Blush

It's Conker shoes Totnes. They're handmade and you can pick the leather you want. They sent me some samples which was supposed to narrow down my choices........oh dear......had a bit of a flap battling my inner purple old lady ...

Here you go conker shoes but eye wateringly priced.

Rustygussets · 22/04/2012 23:18

Thank-you dwpanxt.

I know what you mean about the price.....it took me weeks to rationalise it. I am a bargain queen ordinarily. However, I have become so disheartened after trying all different sorts of brands and waking up sore the next day.

I walked miles in these and not a twinge......they are the best boots I have ever had comfort wise. Style wise they aren't offensive if you like a casual look. They are a neat look on the foot and they just pull on and you press stud them close. I went for a wedge sole and it's supposed to be long lasting.

With you every step of the way Rustygussets: I've had my Conker boots for four years now; I wear them nearly every day and they are the comfiest, grooviest (IMHO) footwear I've ever owned. Pricey but worth it.

Rustygussets · 23/04/2012 10:59

Ooh! Which ones did you go for?

It's wonderful not having to think about footwear anymore because they just go with everything I wear too. Yay!

They are blooming lovely!

Feet?!??! With the perimenopause? What fresh hell is this??

marriednotdead · 23/04/2012 12:02

Oh POAW, I do hope you miss out this time!

May be coincidence but my feet also died shortly after turning 40.

Not sure if those Conker shoes would work for me.

Still have plantar fasciitis and live in Birkenstocks or fugly Clarks unstructured range with sports orthotics in.

Am a babe from the ankles up though Wink

I already have toes that seem to sprain really easily (weird tendon trouble since having dd2) so was pretty alarmed at the thought of them getting worse! Will keep a note of this thread, just in case they do Wink.

They're gorgeous! I live in boots and start to panic when the weather warms up as to what I'm going to wear instead. They are pricy but they look like they'll last for years and get more 'characterful' with time. And when you add up what you'd spend getting ones you 'thought' were going to be OK but then start doing evil things, then just being able to get one good pair is probably more economical. And comfortable feet are something worth paying for imo. It's the one thing I don't mind forking out for. I've just started with either a ganglion or bone spur on top of my foot so these sound v promising. Also wondering what feet hell the peri-menopause can inflict. I've got problems with hot flushes, night sweats, headaches, tiredness, totally unpredictable periods but think my feet have been un-affected? Unless this new lump is hormonal?! I am NEVER coming back as a women in another life.

My feet have been very awkward since I was about 45 too. I can wear Camper, some heels with Insolia at M&S and have had some joy from Moshulu, + the usual from Clarks. It is so unfair, I'm short and short legged and would love to wear the sort of shoes Victoria Beckham favours. I do draw the line at Hotter and will be off to Dignitas if I ever feel I'm going to have to resort to them. The Conker boots look lovely and I will think about treating myself in the autumn.
