Covering up grey hair

I have noticed a few grey hairs and a few more... I'm not sure if others can see them yet, but I'd like to conceal them before anyone else notices. I fear that one morning soon, I am going to wake up and have a head full of grey hair and it will be too late?

Is the only option to dye it? I have blond-ish light brown-ish hair and have never coloured my hair - ever. It is so multicoloured, I'm worried it will look odd if coloured. I don't want a big change.

Any (non expensive, please!) suggestions for what to do or which colour to choose...etc.

I had a full head done last week and cost £55 with a cut.

Next time I go (in 5 weeks) it will be my usual £25 for the cut and blow pkus an extra £14 for the colour on the roots. Time after that when I go, I will need half a head which will be about £46.

:) thanks.
So budget approx £55/month... Is that southeast?

I do what Bella does (am 49) and pay about the same (S Wales) but when I was your age I found that a t-section of blondish highlights hid the grey well.

HavePatience · 22/04/2012 00:25

Ok I may go for that. What is a T section?
Glad to know its not unusual at ths age! No one else notices yet but I feel it's only a matter of time...and not sure how long I have

It is just the top and sides I think (hairdressing expert needed here). Not the underneath bits.

BellaVita · 22/04/2012 07:47

I am in Yorkshire.

T Section is the parting and a few on the sides like Best said.

I have mine done every 8-10 weeks and the cost is £25 for half head (Norfolk). I don't bother with roots in between
because you can't see the regrowth if you get the colours right.

Today the salon recommended silver shine? Confused I have a bottle. I don't really want the grey to shine Hmm. I've counted 8 hairs but I'm sure there are more. And I have a feeling they will come all of a sudden at once.

8 hairs!!! Grin

Nobody else will notice 8 hairs. I think you have a while yet.

Silver shine takes any brassiness out of blonde hair.

HavePatience · 22/04/2012 16:51

Thank you. I realise I'm a bit ahead of myself, but I want to be prepared for the grey onslaught Grin
I'm just sure there are more that I can't see yet. So, the silver shine won't actually hide any greys, is that correct?

I'm dark brown with some, ahem, 'silver' hairs. I'm 37.

I used Lush's Henna in Caca Marron yesterday and now I have a lovely rich warm chectnut tone and the grey hairs are a deep reddy orange colour. Very pleased with it.

Well I used the Loreal professional chroma care conditioner and it has not turned my greys golden they look the same tbh. It is a nice conditioner though and it has brought out a nice colour in the ends of my hair where I had highlights in the past. I was hoping the colour might build up over time but on one website think it was cheap smells it says it washes out on next wash so its definitely temporary.
