Boden on a Primark budget....

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 11:01

My tastes for myself and DD's are very much in line with Boden and the like - well cut lines, bold prints, fab colourful girls tights etc.

However my budget won't stretch anywhere near my tastes.

I find so many budget clothes shops, err towards the TOWIE-esque rather than the Boden-esque.

Can anyone suggest where they shop to get these types of style on a mini budget?

(By the way,I am already a veteran at charity shops and the like)

George at ASDA.

AWimbaWay · 20/04/2012 11:27

Have you joined any of the outlet / sale / discount type websites? BrandAlley had boden on sale with 75% off recently and often features french connection, jaeger, great plains etc. I think there are a few sites doing similar, I've bought lovely children's stuff off Achica in the past with 60% off. Secretsales is another one.

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 11:29

Thanks Edith.I haven't been into an Asda for years so thats one to try.

I found Peacocks did some nice snazzy tights, but I think Peacocks has gone under now.And Next tights are good, even though a little up the price scale, worth it because they last.

H&M for children

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 11:30

AWimbaWay sadly I am virtually useless on computers so can't manage on line shopping. Blush

sainsbury's children's clothes do a nice line in mock-Boden prints and motifs.

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 11:44

Do you reckon its a case of going to all the usual places then and just looking harder and being selective then?

So,Asda,H&M,and Sainsbury's for kids.Thanks for the suggestions!

How about adults?I don't want frumpy nan or TOWIE tat. There must be something else out there thats affordable!

Boots do some lovely children clothes. I was secretly* looking at the girls dresses yesterday but i think they only go up to about 6.

*only have a son

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 11:58

hazchem,my youngest is a biggish 6,but thanks anyhow. I never even knew Boots did any clothes.

I still secretly look at baby clothes.

Bloody hell I would rather have Primark style over Boden.

BarryShitpeas · 20/04/2012 12:03

Sorry that wasn't helpful.

H&M here.

porcamiseria · 20/04/2012 12:09

hennes

porcamiseria · 20/04/2012 12:09

and what barry said

Boden makes my eyes hurt

daimbardiva · 20/04/2012 12:13

Boots kids clothes are great, reasonably priced and have sales often.

SparkyTGD · 20/04/2012 12:15

I quite like Boden-style too Blush so what I do is either order the catalogue to see what type of things I like or keep mini catalogues that you get in magazines. Then go somewhere cheaper Grin

Do same with Kew, nice stuff but very expensive.

La Redoute has some nice quality things, girls stuff lovely (no girl though Sad Grin), H&M good too.

When I go in Primark I always walk back out again (Mrs Untrendy!)

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 12:17

(Barry,I'm trying to be posh here Grin)

I like Boden but NOT the loud prints! Try ebay and reg with boden to get some reasonable discounts. When shopping online click to see their clearance range.
They do some good quality classic pieces that are worth paying a bit extra for as they last years and years. Not too impressed with quality of knitwear lately though.
Online shopping is easy a bit too easy thats the trouble have spent far too much the last few years...What part to do you find hard?

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 12:20

It just worries me kerstina. Blush

tbh I really can't afford to learn to shop on the internet anyway Grin

Spotted some very bodenesque prints and colours in m and co earlier today...

BikeRunSki · 20/04/2012 19:06

I second Saino for kids clothes. Not sure about where to look for adult Boden ish clothes, but then not sure about Boden adult clothes anyway.

SootySweepandSue · 20/04/2012 19:08

Uniqlo have quite a bit of Breton stripe

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 20/04/2012 19:09

I second H&M! Lots of nice bold prints and unusual items that always attract comments. It helps that we don't have an H&M in my home town so the items stand out as being individual.

Also I get some BNWT Boden on Ebay for half the usual price, and I've found lots of boden in charity shops and at car boots. I got DD2 a Boden hotchpotch top in a charity shop a couple of years ago for about £2 and it's still going strong and gets lots of comments!

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/04/2012 21:57

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Hexagonal,my piece de resistance was a Mini Boden dress for 20p at a jumble! I must see if I can get to some car boots this year - excellent idea.

Wow that is a bargain and a half, Skinny!! I got some Boden jeans at a boot sale once for £1, still trying to slim into those though, they're hanging hopefully in the wardrobe Grin
