Stylish Maternity Clothes that aren't enormous needed...

I'm 15 weeks pregnant & all my clothes are starting to get a little tight. I dragged out a pair of trousers that I lived & died in last time & they look hideous so I'm feeling ugly & frumpy.

Any suggestions for some tops/trousers etc that can brighten my wardrobe ? Have searched the usual websites but remain uninspired...

Oh tell me about it!

Vertbaudet and La Redoute have some lovely bits in but they seem to have forgotten that we don't go straight into red hot weather after xmas!

Not really taken with JoJo Maman or Blooming Marvellous either.

Dot Perks have some nice ish stuff though.

I didnt fit into any maternity wear this time round until I was about 22 weeks.

My bump was quite high so I bought a pair of non maternity hipster jeans from Top shop in a size bigger than normal and wore them happily for a few months - also Hennes do really nice, non-maternity but LONG t-shirts and tops.

If you really do want maternity wear, Isabella Oliver is nice soft, stretchy stuff and you can usually pick up bits on Ebay.

oh and have you tried topshop maternity? it is online

mythumbelinas · 09/02/2006 12:16

i bought some practical maternity wear from H&M in bayswater shopping centre

Unfortunately you have to shop around because most of the tops are hideous and the bottoms are either so huge they fall off altogether or quite tight and don't last the full term. Just bought jeans from Blooming Marvellous and they are getting tight and I'm only half way through.

I bought some smart stuff from Isabella Oliver and they've been good but really not worth the extra money unless it's for an occasion.

The stuff in Next online looks dreadful on the models so goodness knows what I'd look like in it.

Have you considered taking some existing clothes and getting a seamstress to put panels in just to tide you over? Quite a cheap option and you get a better fit.

well had a through search & not much good at the mo. Bought a cardigan, shirt & denim skirt in Pumpkin Patch. cardigan is ok (£12 in sale), the other 2 are awful !

Got my hair highlighted today, so that's perked me up a bit

Thanks for the suggestions - I'm putting the drab offerings in the shops down to the time of year. Hope it all picks up soon.

Please let me know if you find any good stuff

definitely second H&M big and beautiful range
cheap and lasted me right to the very end of my pregnancy...

....but don't buy H&M maternity jeans unless you are 5'10.

And they just do not stay up. They are the wrong shape, not enough 'grip' at the top.
