Sad

Usually get the odd spot before I'm due on my period, hey ho, fair enough, and can be, ahem, mildy irritable prior to period also..

However, before, through and since last period have got constatntly got lots of horrible spots that are deep, inflamed slow growing ones that evenually come to a tiny head then break all the skin if they burst never pick them and take ages to heal.

I also feel awful, not as though I could start crying all thime, but fed up and cross - it feels like I've never got enough time to do just nothing - there's always something and I'm fed up of feeling like I'm fucking well sheparding dh roung the house - if he ever notices the washer he might swirtch it off, raraely gets the washing out, never pegs it out, thats jjst a basic example tyhat makes me sound like a fed up old nag

I look awful, my skin looks like shite and feel awful.

arrghhh, what's wrong with me?

This may sound a bit out there, but after suffering awful breast pain and PMT I was advised (by a nurse) to try drinking only organic milk. Non-organic cows are given hormones to make them produce more milk and it comes through to what you drink.

In just one month the breast pain had vanished, PMT is at an all time low and I have just had the lightest period in years Shock

I've not had any ordinary milk for about three months now.

Pregnant?
Or change in hormonal birth control methods

Hetaera · 15/04/2012 17:58

Awww. I'm so sorry you feel down Joyce. It certainly sounds hormonal. The organic milk sounds a good thing to try. In fact, I am going to try that too. Thanks Sposh! I have discovered I have endometriosis and have also been feeling down and spotty.

I was advised by Acupuncturist to cut out out wheat and it certainly hasn't done me any harm. Changing your diet, even slightly can help you feel as though you are taking control and doing something positive for your symptoms.

This is very important: you need to treat yourself! It won't change anything, but it will make you feel better. It doesn't have to be an expensive treat - you at least deserve a nightly bath/shower with nice smelling things. Style your hair afterwards and put some body cream on. I am sure if your husband is around, he could take care of children etc. This would also be a good time to experiment with some face products. Have a search on here for Mumsnet facials and natural/cheap face masks and treatments.

If you have a nice Doctor (I wish I did), then why not speak to them about how you are feeling. There might be some hormone tests that could be done.

I suffer horrid boily spots also. I have found that Freederm sensitive facial wash (pink gel one) is a reasonably priced not too harsh wash. La Roche Posay Effaclar K is a nice thing to rub on my skin and also seems to help calm things. I have recently discovered Alpha H Liquid Gold and cannot believe how few boily spots I have been getting!

You're not alone in feeling less than sparkling and don't ever think that you are less than you are. I really hope that you feel better soon. x

Thank you for the posts!

Definately not pg, amd on period now, plus sh has had snip so would definately have tp have a god explanation for that one Grin

Hmm, might have to chat to gp and look at dietary stuff. Although diet not brilliant, it hasn't changed which is why I can't understand why my body is rebelling against me.

Would love to have a hot bath or shower, but our boiler is going a bit nuts thermostat wise and the water temerature fluctuates wildly bewteen hot and cold, meaning if you spend 10 mins in the shower, you spend 5 mins stood out of it while water goes hot, cold, hot, cold, hot, cold........

I have been tryiong oin cleansing but it didn't make much of a difference dn't think skin probs are related, started before and carried on after OCM and the spots feel very deep down and tender when they start..)

sigh. Now sat on sofa while dh gets dcs ready for bed as he can see I am at a cross bewteen screaming, cring and falling over asleep. With spots.

Def hormonal! Have you got a nice dr? It's certainly be worth seeing them I think . Good luck, it's horrible when you feel like your body is turning against you isn't it? It's as though everything is out of your control!

knitknack · 15/04/2012 20:28

Sorry for atrocious spelling etc - stoopid phone!

I am currently mainlining evening primrose capsules to try to sort out my horrible acne skin. As a result I sailed through my last period when it's normally a horrible process for me. Worth a go?

PoppyWearer · 15/04/2012 20:31

Definitely hormonal. I get spots like that. Only remedy I ever found was Retin-A gel prescribed by a dermatologist. It changed my life.

TimeForMeAndDD · 15/04/2012 21:21

Evening Primrose Oil capsules, 3 x 1000mgs a day help tremendously with hormone imbalance and skin conditions.

sleepysox · 15/04/2012 21:34

I read about Heartsease tincture on mn- after about a week my cystic acne had almost gone. I still have spots, but not the awful inflamed ones like you're describing.

I buy it from here:

woodlandherbs.co.uk/index.html

I also have a topical antibiotic solution called Zinert from the docs and that dries up any spots i do get.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 16/04/2012 15:16

I too suffer hormonal acne (I have PCOS) and switching to organic milk, wholemeal bread instead of White, evening primrose oil capsules have all helped tremendously.

However, my biggest improvement has come from using glycolic cleansing products. I use md formulations case wash and moisturiser and was using their peel at home kit twice a week until recently. Have started using alpha H liquid gold at night instead and don't need the peel anymore.

I reallythink you should see your gp, unless you are approaching the menopause I would imagine it's unusual to have a sudden change in your hormone levels. Best to get checked out, gp can also prescribe something for your skin, benzoyl peroxide works wonders. For other tips to help your skin visit acne.org and you'll see a regime on their that many swear by.

Don't suffer alone on this one, I've had awful skin for over 20 years and desperately wish I'd sorted it sooner. As a result of not finding something effective, my cystic acne has left me with deep scarring which really affects my confidence :(
