revamping wardrobe to get mind off things

Right, have been springcleaning and took lots of stuff to the charity shop yesterday. It has become clear that there are some big gaps in my wardrobe.

I realised that if I started going for job interviews (or start doing things with DH which don't involve mud and DCs) I have nothing to wear.

Pencil skirt: I would like to get a black pencil skirt but I am quite short and in the past they've made me feel a bit swamped.
Would this be nice for possible interviews (as well as nights out)? Or is it not suity enough/too budget? It would be just about on the knee on me.

I like that it has a small back split, as I don't like the hobble skirts.

Breton: I want to get a St James breton as I've had a crush on them for a few years, so that might have to be an ebay find as they can be pricey. Are they as great as I dream they are?

Earrings: I also want to see whether I can get used to wearing a pair of solitaire earrings and might get some small diamonique QVC studs (naff?) to see whether I get into the habit of wearing them. These look OK: www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.602393

So a possible interview outfit would be that pencil skirt, pair of mid-heel pointy black courts, a blouse and a pair of little earrings. Would that work?
