What to wear to a christening?

I have never been to a christening before, being a godless type person, but have been invited to one in June. I had a baby six months ago, have lost any sense of myself style-wise, haven't bought a single item of clothing (excluding nursing bras) since he was born and am just feeling a bit clueless. Would anyone like to advise me? Or better yet, find me something new to buy?
Let me tell you everything I know about this christening, just in case it's relevant: it's on a Sunday afternoon, in the north, the mother of the baby is South American and always looks amazing. I'm 33 but look much younger, about 5ft 4, was always a size 6 but suspect I am now a size 8 with a tummy, have a small waist and now, thanks to the breastfeeding, have decent norks for the first time! I have very pale skin, brown hair and eyes, love bright colours and don't wear heels. Anything else useful to know?
I'd really appreciate any help, feel very dowdy and out of fashion at the moment.

A not-too-short print dress is what I would wear. What's the budget? Will you still be BFing?
These are nice...
blue biba
flowery mango

Don't get too dressed up, maybe trousers with a blouse and a shawl to cover up while feeding.
I'm always amused as a regular churchgoer to see the christening party dressed up to the nines on a Sunday morning.
I'm just going to wear jeans and a nice top to my next christening.

Same as a wedding, minus the hat. Esp if the mother is South American.
Disagree thoroughly with the jeans suggestion above: sone friends did that at DS's christening and it felt v out of place.
How about a wrap dress and a pashmina?

Ooh thanks! To answer your questions:
Yes, I will be breastfeeding.
Budget - I don't have one in mind. I haven't bought anything for myself since DS was born, so figure I can treat myself :)
Wrap dress sounds like a good idea. I quite like the Mango linked above but don't think I could feed in it. The Biba is a lovely colour but the style is a bit 'big' for me. I have a really tiny frame and tend to get a bit lost unless dresses are quite fitted.
Pre-DS I used to shop at Karen Millen, Reiss, Cos, Phase Eight, to give you an idea of my usual style.

Suigeneris I was just saying what I will wear to my next christening. As I am the godmother at it, I will hopefully set the benchmark and all those dolled up will feel over dressedGrin.
Wear whatever you're comfortable in OP, it'll be a long day and you've a baby to look after. God really won't mind.

Went to a christening over the weekend. I don't think anyone knows what to wear to one anymore. See also this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1449079-how-short-is-too-short.

Dresses ranged between floor length and really quite short indeed. I'd say there were many more above-knee than below knee dresses. Someone wore a very flouncy dress and hat and would have probably looked over-dressed at most weddings.

Men were mostly in suits - but a fair few in smart trousers and jackets. Not all wore ties by any means.

The only things that seems to be out were: no jeans on the men, no leggings or jeans on the women.
