Things I need:

  • an undereye concealer thingie - currently using the Garnier one but it's not up to much
  • a primer
  • a mascara (I like the Lancome one I've been using but it seems to dry out really quickly)

Thank you.

Undereye concealer - I'm back on Bobbi Brown Corrector and concealer - I think it does the best job of making my dark circles less obvious. Also rate the Mac Moisture Cover thing which doesn't settle in my crevices.

For the first time ever, after the crushing disappointment of Bad Gal, I like a Benefit mascara - They're Real. Lengthens, thickens and my sister ( make up junkie ) has bought herself some after trying mine. Also love the Bourjouis Volume Fast and Perfect. I do favour the drag queen look though.

No suggestions for primer sorry, I'm looking for one myself and might buy Mac Prep and Prime but I'm pathetically undecided

Laura mercier do a good primer. Dior show non waterproof is a great mascara and Ysl touché éclat.

LapOfTheGods · 14/04/2012 19:35

Eye cream is important for getting a good result with under eye concealer, some make it look clumpy...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/04/2012 20:12

Thank you. Forgot to say not Touche Eclat, as I don't like it.

Which eye cream would you rec, Lap?

Depends on your skin type, get some samples... Lancôme one looked really bad with concealer on me, but Clinique is fairly good.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2012 11:32

Thank you. Am always a bit scared of asking for samples. I've tried the Clinique and didn't like it. Lancome do a fantastic one that comes with a concealer too but it is stupidly expensive and I just can't justify it.

Does anybody on here use cheaper stuff that they rate?

Mascara is always a personal thing, but I love Loreal Telescopic. Its really 'moist' (I find some mascaras feel quite dry) and light (not thick or gloopy like some) and the brush is a curved, fine bristled one that is good for giving that individual-long-lash effect, rather than a fluttery, false eyelash effect.

I swear by the Nars primer. Pricey but lush and you only need a tiny bit. My skin is combination with dry tendencies.

porkypine · 15/04/2012 13:21

People rave about the Barbara Daly Flawless Primer from Tesco - it's £10 and there's often 3 for 2 deals. I'm going to buy it after I finish my Lancome primer which is a bit meh.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2012 13:29

Thank you. I never go to Tesco other than the little Express near us, so the BD's out I'm afraid.

How much is the Nars primer? or the Mac?

My skin is pretty 'normal' I think, with no obvious dry or greasy patches.

MagsAloof · 15/04/2012 13:32

Nars about £25

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2012 13:45

Thanks.

I think the Mac one is about 25 quid too. I did buy the Tesco primer, after it was recommended on here but I find it goes a bit bobbly which is possibly due to some pisspoor application error on my part.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2012 14:24

Thank you. 25 pounds is too much, I'm afraid - have spent a fortune lately and need an economy drive!

Msarsebiscuit · 15/04/2012 14:43

Sorry Remus, will rack my brains to think of a cheaper one but if you fancy trying the Tesco Barbara Daly primer, I can stick it in the post to you - I've used it twice.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2012 16:01

No need to apologise. :)

That's really kind of you. If nobody can recommend me a cheapish one, I may well take you up on that!

Msarsebiscuit · 15/04/2012 16:22

No problem, Remus, just give us a shout if you want me to send it

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 15/04/2012 18:37

I like the BD primer from Tesco as well. I have seen the Avon primer (magix?) recommended on here and I think that was about £7.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2012 19:11

Thank you.

Could do with one that I can get in Boots - or a cheaper one from Selfridges etc!

Didn't someone say the No 7 primer is supposed to be good ? Not tried it myself ( haven't thought No7 stuff to be all that in the past, apart from the nude lip liner )

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2012 21:34

Really? I'll go and have a look although, like you, I don't generally think much of No 7 (though I do like their brushes).

GOSH velvet touch primer from superdrug is lovely and reasonably priced.

here

beeny · 15/04/2012 21:45

The loreal primer is very good i prefer it to the tesco one.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2012 22:11

Thanks both - will investigate both of those.
