All these bright colours are a little challenging for me. My regular style is dark trousers and white shirts (work) and jeans and plain coloured (dark) tops for weekends. Who is wearing these lemon yellows and bright pinks and meadow dresses?

to answer your question about ppl who wear them...real ppl with a sense of style

Sorry. Did I sound amazed? I mean who is as in are you?
I think they look lovely but I wouldn't know where to start.

I'm better at bright than dark colours. Where I grew up you looked freaky if you wore all dark colours + white. I think I wear black badly still.
Go on, give it a try. You know you want to. :)

i have a bright yellow t-shirt, the rest is probably best for teenagers Grin

lktoday5 · 14/04/2012 17:37

nkf im with you in that they're just not good for my colouring (pale skin, dark hair) - frankly they make me look dead next to my face (or like a wannabe teenager - south is right. So ive gone for very pale blue/ dove grey brogues and a couple of scarfs - thats me sorted for this season

lmao nkf..just a little lol....i am a nanny to 6 and mum to 6 and i wear brights and pastels with jeans or black trousers/leggings type things... i think alot depends on your skin tone as i cannot wear reds at all so I go for more pink/cerise type of colours in that spectrum...could you not try and use accessories to brighten up your wardrobe and to gain more confidence or begin with pastel shades in your shirts for work..
try them you may be amazed but i would do it gradual x

I do want to try. Think I might be able to get away with something in raspberry. That's the shade I find most appealing.

nfk have you ever thought of having your colours done with somewhere like House of Colour? That would very definitely help you to break away from your monochrome palette if you would like to do that. It's not about wearing colour top to toe- but I know for example that turquoise/coral/some reds/some greens and certain bits and bobs of yellow look good with my skin tone- alongside a lot of cream/navy/indigo jeans. There will be colours out there that look fantastic on you.

nkf · 15/04/2012 10:36

That's a good idea. I think I've looked at it before. It's not exactly cheap though.

It's all this 80s stuff thats making me want to regurgitate.

Some very strange stuff out there.

MagsAloof · 15/04/2012 13:08

Kids are wearing them.

Anyone over 40 in luminous shoes needs to rethink their look, sorry.

noddyholder · 15/04/2012 13:09

I hate garish colour except on the young and unlined!

Spookey80 · 15/04/2012 13:44

We all need a bit of colour in our lives. It can brighten you up a bit.
I generally wear muted colours, but as most of my wardrobe is like that I am trying to make an effort to wear brighter colours and have just bought a couple things this morning. There is no age limit on what colour you wear!
