Why are boys clothes cheaper than girls?

I just bought some board shorts / cropped trousers for my dc's - size 8 for my son and size 9 for my daughter. Both pairs are from the same shop and are very similar - the boys pair has far more detailing with pockets etc. However, his were 30% cheaper?

Has anyone else noticed this or was I just unlucky?

Could be that your DDs was bigger? I'm interested to find out if anyone knows?

Because they can buy in higher quantities because there is always half the amount of choice for boys

I just looked through Next online at the jeans and there DOES seem to be a disparity. The CHEEK!

No - dd's pair and ds's pair same length, even had exactly the same waistband and material. Like bronze's idea though - could be true

I reckon they have worked out they can get away with charging more because parents like buying nice clothes for their little girls and / or won't spend as much on boys stuff that is going to get trashed. I know. Sweeping sexist generalisations. Don't get me started. Especially as we don't have much choice other than to lay the different prices.
