Water-based serum?? MissFoodie!

Saw MissFoodie mention water-based serums on another thread - what do they do? Looking at Melvita Rose Extraordinary Water - would this replace toner if I use it after Cleanse and Polish and before my shiny new Neal's Yard Rose Facial Oil? Or is it for adding moisture?

Confused

am here! :)
yes, it would replace your toner and also act as a serum to hydrate before you apply oil; you can also apply in morning before cream. If you have a store nearby you can probably get a sample bottle out of them? ps apply with fingers not cotton wool!

The melvita one is a good place to start as it's £12, make sure you get the Extraordinary Water and not the rosewater toner! If your budget stretches, then you could alternatively try Hossana Serum by Antipodes (£28) or Aesop's Parsely Seed Serum ( £45)

I posted this on the Vit E thread too.

Sorry for the hijack!

Missfoodie- my face has an oily t zone, dehydrated cheek area, but I am prone to spots even on my cheeks, even though the top layer of skin is dehydrated. It is also sensitive.

Would a mixture of Argan Oil and Jojoba be the right oils for me to use after the Melvita 'Rose extraordinary Water' serum you mentioned earlier?

Would this serum be the most suitable for me?

MissFoodie · 12/04/2012 14:08

lol
just replied to other one! so ignore that one...
which ny oil did you get?
I would start with jojoba and see how you get on really, you can always add to it

Thank you! Smile will get the Melvita one and see how I get on.

Sorry LOL!

At the moment I use jojoba, castor and argan for the ocm. I've just run out of jojoba and argan, as well as my usual night cream- a Decleor one.

So, I was thinking of using argan and jojoba oils after using the Rose Melvita extraordinary water. I usally buy my oils from Akamuti.

www.akamuti.co.uk/

I tried using oils as a moisturiser before, but found they didn't hydrate my skin enough- so was pleased to find out form your post I'd been doing it wrongly, as I hadn't been using a water based serum to hydrate the skin beforehand.

I'm not sure about peels and things like that, as my skin is very sensitive. i actually burned the top layer off it a few years ago after using Boots Protect and Perfect night cream. It hasn't been the same since!

I will have a browse of the peels thread and will have a bit of a google, but am worried I'll make my skin even more sensitised.

Thanks for your help :)

I use a serum+cream in the day, then serum+ either oil or cream at night

have found since religiously using a water based product first has made a difference to hydration, esp round the ol'eyes :)

Ooh- good. I'll be stocking up once pay day is here!
Thanks MissFoodie- you're a star :)
