Ok have tried most things leg hair removal. I have olive skin and dark hair so drives me mad. Shaved for years was ok but stubbly v quickly. Never felt smooth. Have tried waxing and epilating but get ingrown hairs, hair tried most hair removal creams sugaring, nothing works, except recently tried mitts which fir thd first 3/4 times super smooth although a bit sore. However last time I seem to have caused major leg trauma! Caused scabs and kind of grazes all over legs. I have considered a no no and also laser sessions but does seem a lot of money. I have also tried moisturising and exfoliating nothing seems to help! :((

I found laser very good. It is expensive but I got a good deal - keep an eye out and if you're doing it go to a good place. They will expect you to shave the night before. It's very quick and pretty painless if you've shaved in advance. Won't treat you if you've taken certain medication in the previous month, including ibuprofen and antibiotics. Also try to pin them down on how many sessions it will take. A lot of places give you a deal on 6 sessions but then it takes more and you'll be charged full price for the remainder. Good luck.

Thankyou that's really helpful. Is laser high maintenance or just need a top up now and again once initial sessions are done? Also how do you know you're going to somewhere good? I can't stand pricey legs any longer!!! Envy in your opinion is it worth the money?

I used to get awful ingrown hairs from epilating, sugaring or waxing and needed to shave legs daily in summer. I bought a Philips Lumea and love it. When I was using regularly I had no hair at all on legs, underarms or bikini line.

I'm currently pregnant so have not used for months but still have very little and only very fine hair coming through.

Lumea??? Never heard if that! Will google it. Is it expensive? How does it work? Blush

I'm using a Philips Lumea too. I know someone who has her hair grown back within 2 years with a salon laser job. That makes me a bit sceptical about it since I have very vigourous growing hair. (Same as mrswattnot, daily shave). It's not recommended while you are breastfeeding because the hormones make your hair grow back easier. But even with that, I'm zapping myself every two weeks, and only have to shave once a week. The regrowth I'm getting is pretty sparse, so I can tolerate a few strands of long hair, iyswim.

5babyangels it's a home use lower powered IPL (intense pulse light). Basically laser safe enough for use at home.

Oh damn I'm breast feeding too!!! Sad Although not all the time as ds is 7mo now! What sort of price are they?

Another Lumea fan here! I had IPL in a salon for my underarms and it made not one jot of difference wjatsoever.

I bought the phillips one last May when ds was 15 months and did not see any contraindications re-BF made a mahoosive difference to me from after only a few aessions. I only stopped BF 2 months ago and have not found any difference. Worth every penny and so easy. Shave, zapp, leave it until the next session!!

Just found on amazon for £249 so that doesn't seem too bad Wink now I know it works. Some reviews suggest battery life not great, but wondering whether you could do one leg charge and then do thd other? Grin

That's news to me as well, must try it.

mrswattnot · 12/04/2012 01:09

If you're not bothered/don't need it for facial hair I would just buy the original as so much cheaper.

I find that when fully charged I can do my underarms, bikini line and make a start on my legs. It then needs to be recharged to finish legs. I usually do my legs while watching tv as it does take a while.

There are restrictions re suitability of hair and skin colour so you will need to check that.

OneLittleBabyTerror · 12/04/2012 06:35

I have the new model which can do the face. It's pricier but can't remember how much it is. It has much better battery life. I can do my arms, legs, bikini line and underarm in one go.

I have to add I only just started a couple of months ago.
