I mean hair past your shoulders, rather than right-down-your-back long. 30? 40? 50? Just wondered what you lot think.

Mine has been short. I looked like a boy growing up, also had a short pink phase in my 20s. It suits me better long.

It's a ridiculous question IMHO. Either you suit long hair or you don't. Age is irrelevant. My face shape, I suit it long (am 45). My sister has cute small features, she suits it short (she's 47).

I'm 36 and the hair is staying! I go every four weeks to the hairdressers for highlight, tint (for the greys) and cut, then have beox done every six months. Why on earth would I chop it? I suspect the people who are too old for it may have hair that is just badly styled coloured and just hangs there. You have to put more work in as you get older that's for sure. I think arlenr philips and liz jones look good for old birds!

I am in my early 30s and growing mine (& also not dying or highlighting) while there's still no sign of grey

I ditched a hairdresser because she told me I shouldn't grow it much longer At My Age when I was 30 (& without grey hair and with not that many bloody wrinkles for that matter).

I think it's very individual. My DP mother has hair about 3" below her shoulders which looks great, although she often wears it up. My own mother than weak hair due to dying it from growing grey at a very young age so keeps a neat chin length bob - it suits her and her hair wouldn't look great long.

I'm heading for 42 ans mine is halfway down my back. It's very thick and in good condition though, and I do have it shaped and slightly layered rather than it hanging like a flat curtain. I'm not having it chopped anytime soon.

44 and it's a bit below my shoulders and staying there.
If I can't tie it up to go swimming it drive me mental.

If its short it refuses all attempts at style. It just looks like its been cut round a basin and needs washing every day. I gave up on that battle aged 17 and have no intention of ever starting it again.

  1. Long hair, although I mostly wear it up.

I'd rather have my eyes poked out then wear the tedious safe bobs I see around me.

No-one's said I'm too old for long hair. And lived.:o

I am 44 and growing mine long (again!).

Have had long, short and inbetween through out the years. Last summer was a v short pixie cut - so now is a neat 'chin length bob' ha ha ha.

but am growing it long again - as it is in good nick - barely any greys -and I like it long.

Agree though - that once it loses its condition - and goes thin and scraggy (?) then is probably time for a shorter 'do'.
