Am an ebay novice and have several new items to sell: shoes (mainly from lkbennet, dune and nine west) a peony and moore handbag and Jo Malone toiletries (kind but unwanted gifts).
I have decided to ebay rather than have them continue to gather dust as I can then add to my handbag fund...

Should I put a reserve price on the bag as I don't want to lose loads of money on it? and do shoes sell or are they really not worth putting on?
Any advice welcome - thanks!

Its free listing this weekend, so i would bang 'em all on with reserves if you have a minimum price you would accept.

then put a link on here

Meglet · 08/04/2012 14:10

ha, the shoes will sell as pervs buy used shoes! There's been several threads linking to shoes on e-bay Grin.

NewChoos · 08/04/2012 14:30

Crikey - the shoes are new though!

It's free listings today and tomorrow, so put them on with a start price at the lowest you'd be willing to accept (rather than an official 'reserve' IYSWIM, as that will cost you).

Hmm

I've bought shoes off eBay. I most certainly do not have a foot fetish.

I have a shoe fetish and a very limited budget!! Second hand shoes are sometimes all I can afford.

Shoes sell new and used!

p.s. when you have listed you must put up links so we can bid Grin

rusmum · 08/04/2012 18:40

Links!!!

NewChoos · 08/04/2012 20:02

Thanks for the posts.
Can someone buy under the lowest price though, is a reserve better to do even though it costs money? Apologies if this is a stupid question.

Are we allowed to put links on here? Can pm if better. Not managed to do yet, DS vv clingy with teething and cold.

You can either put a starting price of the minimum amount you want or start low with a reserve.

Do a search of similar items to yours and see what they're selling at.

and yes you can post links. WE WANT LINKS Grin

Cannot buy at a price lower than the start price. Take advantage of free listing weekend and it'll cost you nothing.

mrsebojones · 09/04/2012 08:14

I sell lots through ebay and have listed this weekend with insertion fees being removed. I always list start price as the minimum I would be willing to accept and generally seem to sell most things.
Eek - I'm selling some ugg style sheepskin boots and there's a bid on them - raving perv???!!????

NewChoos · 09/04/2012 09:22

Teatea What size are you? I have some Dune shoes that I'm not going to put on ebay as worn a few times - I would be happy for you to have them. Black high sandals size 5.

Will post links later - I think best not to think who might be the purchaser mrsbojones!

You cant have a reserve below £50
New shoes will sell, take lots of good pictures, including of the soles.

NewChoos · 09/04/2012 10:25

Another stupid question.... Do you estimate the postage costs??

OP posts:
catsareevil · 09/04/2012 10:35

If you look at the Royal mail website you can get an idea of postage costs. Remember that you also have to package the item.
Make sure you send the item recorded delivery.

MrsKitty · 09/04/2012 14:32

I usually weigh each item (in a bowl on my kitchen scales) and then add around 80g for packaging. You can then go to the royal mail website and get costs for different postage services (always use recorded for higher value items - some would say use recorded for everything.) If you use the 'advanced sell' page you can also make use of the postage estimator on ebay (as long as you have the weight of the parcel.

As a buyer I always appreciate a fair postage cost, so when I am selling I only charge the actual cost of postage, accepting that fees & packaging are part & parcel of the sale. I usually use free listings weekends to set a higher start price to cover costs, rather than set a higher postage cost.
