Laser treatment for thread veins on cheeks?

LittleMissGoodEnough · 05/04/2012 21:30

Hi there - I've got quite red cheeks as a result of tiny red veins which have got worse as I've got older (I think party genetic, plus lots of outdoors and a misspent drunken youth... no longer alas!).

I'd like to look more Sex in the City than Last of the Summer Wine. Has anyone had laser treatments for this? What's it like and how long does it last? Thanks

I had mine done,last year.
I didn't have many but enough to useconcealer everyday.
I had a course of 6...it wasn't pleasant ...I have a high pain threshold but found the ones near my nose were agony.
But worth it...all gone.

How much did it cost Mrsrobertduvall? And did you get any scabs or anything, or does your skin still look normal after each treatment?

FunnysInLaJardin · 05/04/2012 22:15

I really need to get mine done. Am 41 and have a 'ruddy' complexion to me although most would prob not notice. Would like to know how much it cost?

lololizzy · 05/04/2012 22:28

ooh me too as getting married end of here, also 41 and ruddy

Mrsrobertduvall · 06/04/2012 08:58

It was about £600 for the course.
I only got one little mark like a blood blister, but that went after a couple of days.
I also had my legs and bikini line done...amazing.
No more shaving.

Argh, not sure I'm liking the sound of the pain! Did you take any painkillers beforehand?

Sorry to be thick, is it the same laser as you had for your legs then? I have a fabulous Phillips IPL machine which is amazing for no more hair on legs etc but bit scared to put it on my face for my thread veins incase the laser is different??

Mrsrobertduvall · 06/04/2012 11:43

No painkillers. It only hurts for an instance, and I think it's also the shock of a bloody big light going off on your face (obviously wear special goggles but still a fright) still made tears come.
Same laser machine but I assume they used a different level. I don't think I'd diy on my face.

Thank you for the info, I might just do it!

I had a large one on my nose done and the nurse did a few others round my face whilst she'd got me.

The one on my nose was awful, but only needed one set of treatment and was totally gone in about a fortnight; the others were quite light so disappeared instantly.

The ones around your nose are bad pain wise (think tache wax!) But the couple on my face were ok.

It cost me 80 pounds for the session.

Well worth it imo.
