Flouride free toothpaste- will it help clear up the spots round my mouth?

I am sick of looking like a teenager and so am trying out FF toothpaste.A friend suggested a while ago that flouride in the toothpaste I was using may be the cause of the little critters!

Does anyone have any experience of this? I am going to the dentist for routine check-up next week so will pass it by her, am half expecting her to be giving me a ticking off and sending me on my way with a big tube of Colgate!

What I really want is healthy, non-holely teeth AND clear skin around my mouth. Is it possible ?

i had a nutritionist who said the opposite and that it could cause spots around mouth! BUT... i switched to a really expensive health food shop one, and it made no difference.... i think mouth spots are hormone related? and vitamin B helps. A good complex with all the B's in it. That helped mine..when all else fails, a dab of pure lavender oil or sudocream overnight is pretty good. Mind you i'm 41 and they still keep breaking out round my mouth! they didnt in my teens. Sulk sulk¬

Flouride can cause spots around your mouth, but it may or may not not be the cause of yours. The only way to tell is to try stopping it and see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't then I don't expect stopping using flouride toothpaste for the duration of one tube, as an experiment, will suddenly cause all your teeth to rot.

Thanks for your replies, I am a bit of a sceptic when it comes to vitamin pills, lololizzy but am prepared to try anything! Havingkittens you are right, a brief trial using flouride-free toothpaste is not going to be very detrimental to my teeth. I will give that a go first, if that fails to work, will get me some vitamin B tablets.

I did think that by the age of 38 I'd be more worried about wrinkles appearing than bloody spots!

i have told by many different people that lack of B causes cracked lips and spots around mouth. It's far better to have lots of spinach etc ie fresh stuff, but I have a good complex ''50'' by Solgar, its calmed them down for me. Since I upped the B's, I never got cracks round my mouth corners again
