new wardrobe for new figure.

Hi all,
Since Late October I have lost 3 and a half stone and have gone from a (tight) size 24 to a size 16/18 on top and size 18 bottoms. I know this doesn't sound like very slim but this feels a huge difference to me, especially when I can shop in "normal" shops for the first time in since I was a teenager.

I have also started a new job so all my money has gone on clothes for work but my wardrobe is empty for weekends, nights out etc. I have a pair of leggings, a pair or jeans, some vest tops and little cardigans.

I am starting to find my own style as before I would buy anything because it was in my size, but I am conscious that I want things that will flatter me rather than just because I like them!

So I need your help, I am five foot seven ad 29years old and would describe myself as hourglass. I have big boobs (34hh) small waist and I am quite conscious of my tummy. Please tell me what kind of things I need for a decent spring/summer wardrobe as I feel on the brink of buying absolutly everything because I am so chuffed that things fit! :-)

Thanks in advance.

have you tried a personal dresser? there are some threads on here about them. i went into monsoon once during a very quiet period and the staff were great - weren't officially personal dressers but bought me loads of things to try and gave me decent feedback, things i wouldn't normally have picked. i think john lewis has proper ones. i think you should also think about your lifestyle and what works - ie i do lots of walking and jeans are very practical

OMG congratulations on the amazing weight loss!!

I am in a similar situation myself as I lost 2 stones and I am in the process of decluttering my wardrobe and giving away my fat clothes.

So far, I bought: two pairs of skinny jeans (primark £9) in blue and black, one pair of blue bootcut jeans from DP (£15 to wear with trainers and shorter tops), tan wedges and black heels (to wear with skinnies for nights out), orange blazer (primark £18) to wear with skinnies and long t shirts, bird grey top to wear with blazer (h&m £7).

I found that most of my older (slim) tops and t shirts were ok and I always bought plain (boring) t shirts anyway. I think that you need ballet flats or wedges, jeans, blazers are really in and a long cardigan for colder days which will cover your bum and look flattering with skinny jeans.

I wouldn't spend too much as you probably will lose more weight.

Pepperberry I find the best for dresses (I'm an hourglass too). If you go on to their Facebook page you will find lots of photos of their customers in their clothes, gives you a much better idea of what they look like on 'real' people. Can't be of any help re tops, I'm struggling too!

Hi All, Thanks ever so much for your help, to be honest it still hasn't really sunk in that I am "slim(mer)" and I still automatically go for my old size or styles.
I had thought about a personal dresser but I worry they will just try ad get me to buy as much as possible and not really help me develop my "style" I will hve a look tho.
Marki, Congratulations to you too!I had debated about skinny jeans as I bought a lovely tunic top from dp the other day and think it would look good with them, you are right aswell with shoes, I'm going to have to have a look, and a long cardigan too will be added to my list, thank you for sharing and for your help.
Styleguile, thank you, I have got one top from peppeberry but some of them I feel are a bit oldfashioned, wrap dresses are something I will look at.I am going to start writing a list and start looking!

Hello! Why don't you find a personal stylist local to you and give one a call for a chat? You can look on the iStylista website at their personal stylist directory and get a 15 minute free consultation. I am also happy to try and recommend one local to you. I did a session with a lady the other day which was specifically aimed at showing her what would work for her, looking at styles, brands, shapes, accessories and problem solving items, with a view to helping her to develop her style. She didn't buy anything whilst with me but we took photos of her in all items and she went away, thought about it and then went back to buy things. A good personal stylist won't mind if you buy lots or nothing - they will just want you to go away knowing that you have a clear idea of how to style yourself.
