when applying coconut to your hair do you wet your hair first or apply it dry? and do you just apply to roots or all over? my hair is mid back length.

don't moisturise before fake tan! esp not with coconut oil as it is very very moisturising and will really dilute the final colour outcome.

i use a very light moisturiser just on dry areas like knees, elbows and feet about an hour before fake tanning but no where else

IAmBooyhoo · 04/04/2012 09:35

thanks everyone for all the tips. will try it tonight before i go to bed.

Sorry for delay Booy love. I alternate between just coconut oil and the other days I use a mix of castor/olive oil. The coconut is better but I'm using up my stocks of castor oil.

Misty i was sure I'd read it was poreblocking too but I mentioned it on an ocm thread and everyone was 100% sure it wasn't - and they're right :)

I buy mine in Sainsbo's near the herbs and sachets of food mix, basically the ingredients aisle. Was a fiver for an enormous tub. Virgin/organic/cold pressed are the key words.

So if I use it on my barnet, does it make the pillow oily?

MistyMountainHop · 04/04/2012 09:58

yeah i must admit pinot it does make the pillow a bit oily

but it comes out in the wash Blush #slattern

maybe sleep with a towel over the pillow

Wink
IAmBooyhoo · 04/04/2012 10:02

that's ok pinot Wink
thank you. i've been a bit slack in the OCM department.

OP posts:
Pinot · 04/04/2012 10:11

booy it's so good if you keep it going. I've been slack this past month (just through being knackered and cba-ness) and I've defo noticed my skin doesn't look as clear as before. It looks a bit bumpy. I think I'd forgotten how crap it used to be. So back on the ocm with a vengeance the last few days and looking clearer already.

IAmBooyhoo · 04/04/2012 10:38

that's good to know. i never really full commited to OCM so i haven't seen any noticeable change which is probably why i have been slack.

do you do an oil cleanse every day? if not, what do you do on the non OCM days?

My skin is oily (well it was - not now I'm ocm-ing) and was spotty all too often. So yep I ocm every night. Personally I like the routine - so when castor oil is too much, I just used jojoba as it's less deep cleansing and gentler. Defo works to leave skin squakly clean if you do it regularly.

Pinot · 04/04/2012 15:06

squakly? eh? [arse] I meant squeaky

IAmBooyhoo · 04/04/2012 15:51

ooh i sooo want an [arse] emoticon! Grin

i have combination skin and always seem to have at least 1 spot hanging around. i will tryy every night to see how i get on.

IAmBooyhoo · 07/04/2012 20:38

ok so i applied coconut oil on my dry hair last night. root to tips and shampooed out this morning. my hair has felt greasy all day. i shampooed it really well. should i be doing 2 shampoos. also i didn't apply conditioner after shampooing so the oilyness isn't from that.

Ahh glad you bumped this thread, the last two night I've put my hair in a ponytail on the top of my head like a pineapple, and saturated with CO...both mornings a shampoo and condition as normal and my hair is shiiiiiiiiiiiiny and swiiiiiiiiiiiiishy . Am a vair happy easter bunny!

So my advice would be to only do ends and mid lengths :)

IAmBooyhoo · 07/04/2012 20:55

thanks pinot. will do that in future. do you comb it through your hair after you have applied it?

OP posts:
PinotCantDoEasterNamesSoGaveUp · 07/04/2012 21:04

Yeah I did, to make sure ot was even. It seemed to soak in pretty quick and the pillowcase wasn't stained either. i think it's gonna be part of my routine now tbh - especially in summer when hair gets parched by sun (hopefully!). The remnants on my hands after applying I rubbed into the drier skin on knees and ankles (am thinking ahead to fake tan).

IAmBooyhoo · 07/04/2012 21:12

i rubbed my excess on my face. i felt like an eel, i was so slippery. Grin

heh heh :o

Gapants · 26/04/2012 11:50

BUMPING THIS, as I would be very intersted to know how you are all getting on as I might just try this.

I do OCM 1/week and might get on this coconut thing as my hair is HORRENDOUS. over processed and looks a fright.
