Under-eye concealer for vicious dark circles?

lurkingaround · 02/04/2012 22:09

I have the most awful under eye dark rings so i need a really really really good concealer. And if possible it needs to last the day. I have l'oreal touche magique at the moment but it's only ok. Touche éclat brings me out in a rash.

What will I try next?

I've used Benefit - I think it's called Boing before and it's very good, currently using a posh Estee Lauder one which was a gift, which is a bit softer looking but not as covering.

I've just started using a Bobbi Brown one that you can 'set' with yellow powder. Really pleased with it and def seems to have staying power also doesn't give you that panda look like the YSL one can

Wolfiefan · 02/04/2012 22:20

Lurking to find the answer to this. I tend to look a bit like I have two black eyes. Sexy!

YoullLaughAboutItOneDay · 02/04/2012 22:23

I like the relatively cheap Garnier roll on thingy. YSL makes me look like a reverse panda, as did the Bobbi Brown pen style one I tried.

I use benefit erase paste. It's really good and bloody stats put!! Little pot but lasted 6 months so worth it!!!

lurkingaround · 02/04/2012 22:46

Thanks y'all. I don't just need cover, I need COVER! I've limited shopping time so I don't have the luxury of trying and waiting to see.

I'll do a whistle stop tour of Bobbi and Benefit. I like the fact Bobbi is a bit yellow.

I have a Laura Mercier one, in a small black pot. It's really good.

Shenanagins · 02/04/2012 23:04

I bought the benefit primer recently and that coupled with my mac concealer seems to have done the trick and lasted all day.

Liveinthepresent · 02/04/2012 23:09

Laura mercer one is my saviour

Liveinthepresent · 02/04/2012 23:09

Mercier

LoopyLoopsIsTentativelyBack · 02/04/2012 23:10

Erase paste here too. Still have more than half left, used daily since August 2008!

lurkingaround · 02/04/2012 23:14

Ok, will add Mac and Laura to the look at list.

So shenanigans, do you wait for a few mins after primer and then put on the concealer? So it's moisturiser-primer-concealer? I have a primer, Smashbox, a pressie, hardly ever use it cos I'm not sure what to do with it. Blush Clever me.

I use Benefit Lemonaid. I put it along my circles and do a dot and blend over the inner corner, it works really well. It's yellow too.

EllenParsons · 03/04/2012 00:26

I second Benefit Erase Paste and Laura Mercier. Both work great on me and my circles are awful.

pluckingupcourage · 03/04/2012 02:36

If you need serious cover (as do I - dreadful insomnia, looks at clock ... gah) perhaps you could try colour correctors instead? I think you need a peachy coloured corrector to conceal dark circles (a friend of mine uses a peachy lipstick mixed with her ordinary concealer).

porcamiseria · 03/04/2012 10:54

i keep on thinking my eye make up has run. then I realise, NO, its my dark eye bags

did she comment on my eye bags? BITCH!!!!

valiumredhead · 03/04/2012 16:19

Peepo by Lily Lolo - don't be put off by the bright yellow colour and use sparingly!

Shenanagins · 03/04/2012 19:12

lurking i put on eye cream first and let it settle for a few mins. then i put on the benefit primer on my eyes after that i dry my hair as i wait till it settles but then i only take 5 mins to dry my hair. Next i put on my mac concealer.

Since using the benefit primer i have noticed that it really has made a huge difference to some serious dark circles. also it lasts all day -its called stay don't stray.

otchayaniye · 03/04/2012 20:41

i posted an epic one about this and e tear trough, which is

about three years of tweaking about i have come to the conclusion that totally masking it and setting it with powder if you're over 35 is counterproductive for daytime makeup.

so i don't use primer and have ditched any powder, such as LM brightening powder to set the two concealers.

i use the merest merest swipe of a corrector (eve pearl salmon but have used bobbi brown corrector) and press it in, then with small eyeshadow brush use concealer two shades lighter in the shadow (trough) of the bottom of the dark circle, or what is in some the beginning of an eye bag. work it in with finger.

this way it doesn't crease but won't completely cover it but still looks much better. the amount of product i'd need to completely eradicate it would make me look 900 years old by lunchtime.

look at some 1960s beauties, such as madeleine smith and jean shrimpton, they had dark circles and still looked gorgeous.

illamasqua nude pen on waterline can refresh if you look knackered as well.
