shellac home kits

Hi, I have been thinking about getting a home shellac kit for a while, but my birthday is coming up and I have decided now's the time!

I'm looking to get the bits separately maybe, to keep it a bit cheaper because it it quite expensive. Does anyone know if I really need the CND lamp or if any old UV lamp will do the same job? I've looked online and different people say different things, so I'm a bit confused.

If anyone knows these things please help me out, thanks!

This set gets good reviews

Thanks seb1, but the link doesn't work, it might be a problem at my end. I just get a blank screen!

any uv lamp will work provided its 36 watts - LED lamps also work (and take less time) but are more expensive

Nightowl - go on Boots.com and search for Sensationail.
That will get you to the link from seb1.
I have the same kit Smile

Also there is a Boots code for 10% off all spends over 70 quid at the moment so you could get the kit including lamp for 76.50!

Miss Foodie is right, LED lamps are quicker than UV (30-60 seconds per cure vs. UV at 2-3 mins per cure) Also LED lamps do not emit UVA/UVB rays

Ok, thanks everyone, it seems quite complicated! Will check out that link now, thanks!

Ok so I looked at it and am tempted because it seems much cheaper than shellac kits, but is it as good do you think? I am told shellac is the best so I'm not sure about going for something else. Am prepared to be told they're all the same and it's just branding, I can imagine that's true!

It's brilliant!

Looking on the box it has the same ingredients in as Gelish, which is another professional brand.
Has some quite good reviews on Boots too.

The CND lamp for Shellac I think is UV, not LED so more expensive and takes longer.

Ok, I might give it a go then. Makes more sense than forking out £200 for something that is probably exactly the same!
