Can anyone recommend some hair rollers to get a Dita von Teese type hairstyle?

so more 40s waves rather than corkscrew curls?

I've never used rollers before and am confused between heated rollers, Velcro ones and funny squishy, bendy types. What do I need?

My hair is shoulder length and thick. Straight but with a bit of a kink.

I'm going to a wedding in a couple of months and want my hair to look nice and glam.

I think you need giant hairclips, long flat ones. I think it's called a finger roll/wave so you could try YouTube? There are some speciality retro hairdressers about at the minute who might be able to show you how to do it?

HTH and good luck.

All the retro girls I know swear by Clairol hot sticks. The die hards do pin curls, yes, but they take ages to dry/set so hot sticks are a firm favorite and I think that's what Dita uses.

Curl under in rows, in a horseshoe shape around head. The end result is all in the brushing out. For best results use a bristle brush and form the curls around your hand. Some good Youtube video posters to check out - lisafreemontstreet and fleurdeguerre.

The legendary Nina the Vintage Hairdresser uses tongs rather than curlers.
