There have been some amazing blogs mentioned on here which I'm now avidly reading.

Does anyone know of any uk style blogs where the blogger is aside 12/14?

I'd love to read a blog of how someone my own size dresses and wears trends.

Hello mrsebojones - how's about you post the pics and I write the words! Win, win! My trouble is that I have three children, work full time and have a husband who works long hours. Photo opportunities are snatched as and where possible but it's often the 10yr old of 4yr old who takes them. Would love to have whole days to devote to photos but that's not really me either! At least it's real I guess.

dingdong3 · 01/04/2012 12:54

Thanks talkingnonsense it will mean a lot to Megan to hear your lovely comment. I was well impressed that so soon after having her baby, she was looking so glam and 'together'....no way I could have done that! I'll pass your comment on as she's not on MN :)

I'm yet to find any blog I like that features 'real people' rather than beautiful young Portland gals etc. I like Wendy's Look Book but she is far too young and beautiful and slim for 42 year old, size 12 me to be able to wear the stuff she wears - I like it for looking at scarves, colour combos etc though.

I can't get v excited by the 'mum blog' type blogs tbh - too many long cardigans etc.

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/04/2012 17:12

I tend to agree with you Remus Smile

I like the more I guess aspirational blogs by the likes of Wendy/WIT or Sartorialist. But then I love reading Vogue and probably get more inspiration from how things are styled on sites like Matches which is brilliant at the moment.

mrsebojones · 01/04/2012 17:47

I still think you get different things from different blogs.
As I say, I'm a WIT fan. I like 90% of what she wears and posts. However, her life and circumstances are very different to mine - I browse to get ideas on what to wear with what, how to accessorize etc... but lots of it is unobtainable to me due to the fact I'm on a far stricter budget than she is. Also, I don't work in the fashion industry and need different clothes for my working wardrobe from what she does.

Wendy is not my cup of tea at all. Too perfect and too polished all of the time. Feels a bit unreal and a bit fake.

'Mum blogs' are of course different. I feel I can relate more to the women who I suppose are more like me. I like seeing what they are wearing and maybe spot odd items that I do like and that are obtainable to me.

Just had a first look at Styleguile. Very nice! And I have the Limited Collection grey jumper that you are wearing in one of your posts - lovely, isn't it.

talkingnonsense · 01/04/2012 18:29

Mrse bojones, would you mind linking to your blog?

KateSpade · 01/04/2012 20:04

Ooh, Styleguile, i didn't know you were on this thread, but i suppose a bit of crit is a good thing excuse sorry.

I do have a zoom thing on my mac, by then i can't read the words without making it funny.

Carry on though, i would LOVE my own blog one day.

StyleGuile · 01/04/2012 21:08

Hello Kate Spade - please don't worry. All pos criticism gratefully received! I will be working on my photos - not sure that I can do much about the fact that you don't like the rest of it though! At least it's not American I suppose. Ho hum.

GeorginaWorsley · 01/04/2012 21:16

I love the 'mum' blogs.
Like Online stylist,That's not my age,Does my bum look 40,Lookinf fab at any age also.

StellaAndFries · 02/04/2012 19:56

Well I'm glad MN introduced me to mum blogs in the last few months as I've just won the School Gate Style blog's competition, I never win anything so I'm really pleased!! Can't wait to choose my prize :)

I'm also loving Betty Bee's blog which is ideal for me as a Rockabilly mum, I love the fashion and hair tips.

mrsebojones · 02/04/2012 20:20

talkingnononsense - blog currently should be able to be found under - mrsebojones.blogspot.co.uk - somewhat neglected though. I really wanted to write and post pictures etc... but I have quite a serious full time day job which really has prevented me from posting. However, I'm going to try doing more photos and less writing to save me time!

MyleeneCrass · 02/04/2012 20:35

Styleguile, would have been nice to have a better photo of your size 16 model. Would volunteer myself if I didn't look like a frumpy hippo in all my photos.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 02/04/2012 20:47

I want MrsRCB to do a blog Blush

drywhiteplease · 02/04/2012 21:28

Yes mrsCB I want to see those H jeans in!

StyleGuile · 03/04/2012 08:12

Hi MyleeneCrass - yes, you are right a closer photo of Liz would have been better but the photographer on the night didn't work out so it was left to my 13 year old to take photos on my iPhone from the audience and I think she did pretty well. Why don't you go and have a try on in the shops and send a photo over of an outfit that you like? Any lady, any age and any size can look amazing.

MrsPellereau · 03/04/2012 19:19

Bluebirdpies alex loves isn't the archetypal waif blogger and dresses amazingly for her figure.

Remus I also like mademoiselle robot who is a mum, but also a stylist and french so way more hip than I can ever hope to be. Her husband also contributes and she writes about stuff for kids too.

cocomama · 10/04/2012 14:57

Hi everyone, just seen this thread and I created www.cocomamastyle.com It is a bit different to some other mum/style blogs as I don't feature snaps of myself so this may or may not be what you are looking for.

I do know though that seeing someone's individual style like the lovely style guile and schoolgate style can be a lot more inspirational than simply outfit suggestions and how to wear things which is what I write about.

But at least there are various options out there to inspire, which is what I think most (without speaking on behalf of others) of us that write such blogs/websites hope for?
And of course as someone mentioned you need to have a look across several and some will strike a chord in some areas and pique your style interest I guess and others may not be to your taste at all.

I try to write with my styling experience for various body shapes and stages of pregnancy/motherhood in mind and try to suggest practical options based on my experience of getting to grips with dressing when you've got to think about sticky fingers/breastfeeding etc!

Looking forward to reading through the other blogs everyone has suggested with a cup of tea and cake this afternoon!!
Loving the sound of mademoiselle robot!

StyleGuile · 10/04/2012 15:33

Hello cocomama - I love your blog as it covers so many different areas. Good luck with that piece of cake and cup of tea this afternoon!!

dingdong3 · 11/04/2012 20:11

Just found this blog - good for curvy women...
Big Girls Browse

MyleeneCrass · 11/04/2012 21:51

So sad size 14 is considered big.

dingdong3 · 11/04/2012 22:27

I thought that too Myleene I think she features other girls on the blog also - maybe that's why? Confused

Lozislovely · 11/04/2012 22:31

Cue to someone of 'normal' size 14 to start a blog me thinks!!!

I'd do it but I'm totally crap unless it's black, black or black and hides all the multitude of sins Wink

alwaysrunninginheels · 12/04/2012 07:43

Oh dear- just looked at mademoiselle robot..... Love the shoes, trousers.....really the whole look! Styleguille do love your blog too!!!! Bigger photos would be good too!!
