Summer Work Clothers

I have tried looking for ideas on the internet...but some places have very strange ideas of what constitutes 'work wear'. Ideally I need a couple of dresses for work in summer - smart/casual, preferably no flowers Grin. I'm 6ft size 14/16 hour glass.

I think I am being picky as I don't want strict business wear, it needs to be on my knee or just under, not too clingy, but shaped. I can't wear open toed shoes/sandals to work and I usually live in ballet pumps.

I don't have a massive budget either !

Any ideas S&B ?

New Look had some nice plain day dresses in today- I noticed one plain coral and one cream, skater style with a belt.

Dorothy Perkins usually good for smart day dresses.

I find buying dresses for work really tricky - too structured/formal it looks like you are off to a cocktail party, and too printed/frilly looks like you should be on the beach.

M&S Autograph usually do some nice dresses - fitted shifts etc. I am actually wearing a Boden number today (Everyday Jersey Dress) in one of their less lairy prints, of course (and bought in the sale). Another place to look is Next for good value work stuff.

How about trousers and a fitted short-sleeved shirt as another option?

Ah just seen you are 6 foot Envy, the New Look ones may be too short for you.

Thank Cointreau, I'll have a look in M&S.
I am trying to break free of trousers Wink I find it difficult to find the right length of leg (35" ideally). I saw some in Tall at DP, but they are chino type/peg leg and I'm not sure they are work wear.

I quite like the idea of knee length skirt - I had my eye on those floaty pleat type ones, but maybe too dressy and not sure what to wear on the top !
