i have a couple of weddings to go to in May and have just given birth to a boy. People are asking me what i would like as a present and i thought it would be a good idea to plan ahead and get him a couple of nice outfits - he'll be about 7 weeks old. does anyone have any suggestions? i don't want anything too smart but just really cute and classic. thanks.

Seriously? Put him in a babygro. No need for uncomfortable outfits. I have a wedding to go to in a month with an as yet still overdue boy, and it'll be a babygrow and a pretty blanket over him.

a babygrow or very soft dungarees, with or without feet, h&m do nice ones as do next. whatever he wears needs to be soft and practical for nappy changes!

At seven weeks, definitely a babygro - but if you want him to look dressed up, maybe something like
this?

GingerPCatt · 26/03/2012 17:31

I got the tux babygro for my ds to wear to a wedding. He seemed comfortable and looked so cute! Of course then at the reception he did massive poo and we had to change him.

SecretNutellaFix · 26/03/2012 18:14

This is gorgeous

SewCrafty · 26/03/2012 18:31

yes, several outfits per day is what you need. clean rompers or dungarees work well.

theseventhdwarf · 26/03/2012 22:10

emile et rose do lovely baby stuff (soft dingarees etc)
At 7 weeks you really will need a few changes though
POP do really lovely babygros and lovely soft but cute and nice pattern/design trousers (or legging or bottoms i suppose you would call them) with cute vests and tops

toby tiger baby gros are lovely too

Definately avoid anything with fiddly buttons or too stiff and rigid.

Babygrow

JasperJohns · 27/03/2012 10:28

I hate to see tiny babies in 'outfits' - they look so wrong.

Babygro.

HappyAsEyeAm · 27/03/2012 10:29

Honestly, I would put him in something pretty normal for a baby to wear.

If you want smarter stuff, try Monsoon Baby.

Or a nice nautical navy/white outfit (Breton favourites) from JoJo Maman Bebe.

FritziGreenEyes · 27/03/2012 10:34

Petit-Bateau. Classic, non-naff and great value for reselling on ebay later.

pictish · 27/03/2012 10:34

'Outfits' on babies look so bizarre.
Choose a nice babygro instead, I implore you.

Baby boys in the shirt/tanktop/trousers combo look weird, and as for a waistcoat, shirt and tie...NOOOO!

Once they are walking about, then fine - if a person gets off on dressing their tiny tot like they are about to go to the office or do a round of golf with the Rotary Club then that's up to them.
Wee babes in arms though...they need nothing other than a clean onesie and a cardi. Even for a wedding.

pictish · 27/03/2012 10:35

Dunagrees are nice. Smile

FritziGreenEyes · 27/03/2012 10:37

Maybe these and a breton top?

pictish · 27/03/2012 10:38

Just had a look at Monsoon - they have miniature suits for baby boys!
Ack!

pictish · 27/03/2012 10:38

They are lovely Fritzi!

ujjayi · 27/03/2012 10:40

Babygro definitely. A pair of comfy, cotton dungarees at a push. Please don't do outfits on a 7 week old baby. He is a baby - not a dress up doll.

snowybaby · 27/03/2012 11:02

how about something like this?
