Hi, I want to spend some time pampering myself and improving my skin, hair and nails but I don't want to spend money.

I'd love to hear of any simple, home made pampering treatments that I can enjoy in the evenings after dd is in bed. Especially skin softening, moisturising, hair silkening (is that a word?), natural hair lightening, foot and hand improving. Have ideas that lots of kitchen stuff can be good, e.g. Have heard of bathing feet on oats and water but not sure of the details of how to do this.

Please give me some cheap and easy tips! Thank you

Andrews liver salts (other brands may be available!) in a footbath exfoliates dead skin on feet-you can actually see it detaching! lovely

The best place to get argan oil is from DIY beauty/essential oil suppliers on ebay - it's pure and costs so much less because it's in plain unbranded bottles. I use the Mystic Moments ebay shop.

Grapes - cut one up and use on face.
Wash out in a few mins - fruit acid, great for exfoliating.

I love the sugar scrub tip! I have so much sugar in my cupboard and don't eat it so more than happy to use it on my skin- haha!

I also love the Mayo tip. I have dry hair. dyed every five weeks. Can anyone talk me through the mayo hair mask if its recommended for thick, dry hair? Also does it leave a smell?

Warm olive oil makes a great moisturiser for damaged hair

I've made translucent face powders in the past using cornflour and talc. Sometimes adding a bit of cinnamon for a bit of a bronzing colour or crushed up an old pink eyeshadow to make into a softer blush. I find its much easier to find the right colours to match your skintone this way.

Drink loads of water. Use cold water to rinse off hair conditioner. Use up all those left over body lotions on your feet and hands morning and night.

don't know if its been mentioned- use hair conditioner when shaving-leaves skin soft.

talc makes good emergency "dry shampoo" but if you have dark hair make sure you brush it well out
