Advice needed on clarisonic

I bought myself one of these and have used it for the first time and followed the instructions only to find that after rinsing and patting my skin dry, when I wipe over with a white tissue it is obvious that it hasnt taken all of my makeup off.....colour comes off on the tissue.
Thing is I wear very little makeup anyway so its not like its because I have it caked on.

Bit disappointed as it was supposed to remove so much more than regular washing...anyone else had this issue and what am I doing wrong?

I bought the cheapie QVC clarisonic clone just last week (tresonic)....not exactly the same, and I'm certainly no expert - are you pressing firmly enough on your skin? Or maybe it's just not working properly?
...FWIW I've had the opposite result you've had, in that I cleanse as normal first, and then use the tresonic and am amazed (and slightly eeewww) at how much foundation comes off on the brush.

laptopdancer · 23/03/2012 20:08

Foundation came off on the brush, its just that there was some left (which was apparent on the tissue).

ooohh, i don't know....sorry, I'm not much help am I :o

Right, here's what I've been doing....wet face, apply cleanser, wipe off with cotton pads, rinse face. - at this point I usually assumed face to be clean, and applied moisturiser. But, now I damp and apply cleanser again, wizzz round wth the tresonic - have to rinse it several times bec loads of foundation on the brush. Every night I think "OMG, wasn't I minging for years!"

Definitely nothing on the towel when I dry my face.

Love my clarisonic (bought after reading about it on here!), my only thought is that the cleanser you are using may not be very effective? What do you use?

Petrean · 24/03/2012 07:02

It gets my make up off fine? Not eye make up obviously because you don't use it on the eyes. Are you sure you're getting it all around your face?

wools · 24/03/2012 07:09

I've got the cheapie Tresonic too and it's brilliant. I firstly cleanse and wipe off with a hot cloth and then put more cleanser on and use the Tresonic and my face has never been so clean.

laptopdancer · 24/03/2012 07:41

Will try again tonight...and will be getting a new cleanser :0)

I cleanse as normal first - there used to be loads of makeup on my brush too, and since the replacement brushes are £20 a pop - I'm looking after this one. So maybe a double cleanse is best. tbh I'm not using it as a makeup remover - I'm looking at it as an exfoliator iykwim, so I still need to remove makeup first.

fluffylegs · 24/03/2012 12:16

Has anyone tried both clarisonic and tresonic to compare? ( highly unlikely I know)

winefairy · 24/03/2012 12:26

More Clarisonic questions here too, I'm afraid.

I am considering the Mia Clarisonic and understand it's good for blemished young skin but how would it be for an old crone like me? I am 40 now, apparently. God knows how that happened Grin.

I have dull skin and want to be all glowy and dewy. Has sneaking suspicion Glowy and Dewy were in Donald Duck which does not bode well

sidsmissis · 24/03/2012 13:11

I have tried the Tresonic and the Clarisonic. The difference I found between them is that the Clarisonic brushes are much softer, the timer on the Clarisonic means that I don't spend too long on some areas and not enough on others and the speed can be adjusted on the Clarisonic.

On my Tresonic brush, the battery compartment came loose, which was a pain as it stops working until it is pushed back in, this seems to be a common fault. The batteries last ages though so it could be taped up to stop that happening.

If you can afford a Clarisonic then I think it is better. The Tresonics does a really good job though and I'm not sure the cons of the Tresonics can justify the £££ difference in the two.

sidsmissis · 24/03/2012 13:18

Winefairy I am a bit older than you and it has made a big difference to my skin. My pores are smaller and my skin looks smoother and much cleaner. I have gone from wearing thickish make-up to a tinted moisturiser and one day, when I'm feeling stupid brave I shall go foundation free. I'm not using as much wrinkle cream skincare either.

fluffylegs · 24/03/2012 13:54

Oh thank you sid. The soft brush thing sounds quite important though. I wd end up over cleaning prob.
Might just have to save up
For the Mia

winefairy · 24/03/2012 20:50

Very interesting, sidsmissis. Thank you. You had me at 'smaller pores'. Think I may just have to order a Clarisonic later! Glad you're getting on well with yours.

VenetiaLanyon · 26/03/2012 17:04

Winefairy I'm on the shady side of 40 and am newly in love with my Clarisonic; my skin feels incredibly clean (use with Eve Lom, and see no make-up on flannel afterwards)and very soft and I'm sure I look 10 years younger at least Wink.

Went for expensive one with body brush too, and has had good impact on elbows and knees.

winefairy · 26/03/2012 18:33

Thanks, Venetia. I use Eve Lom too and was wondering how the Clarisonic would work with it! Still haven't actually ordered it, of course.

Hoping it will help with my dull, old lady skin. I want to be dewy. Damn it, I am going to be dewy! Grin

MissFoodie · 26/03/2012 19:11

you have to double cleanse, first to remove eye make up and most of face make up, then use clarisonic to do 2nd cleanse

cybbo · 26/03/2012 19:15

I agree, I use the rio Sonicleanse and its much better as a treatment for second cleanse

cybbo · 26/03/2012 19:15

Rio Sonicleanse is fraction of the price of a Clarisonic btw, but exactly the same

Bought from Amazon

laptopdancer · 26/03/2012 20:39

How long did it take you before you noticed a difference in your skin?

OP posts:
fluffylegs · 26/03/2012 20:56

Ohhh I'm
Having a look at the Rio sonic. Does it have soft brushes and a timer?

VenetiaLanyon · 27/03/2012 09:18

laptopdancer, I noticed a difference after only a couple of days, but my skin was frankly pretty neglected before, and I'm now bombarding it with moisturiser, serum, eye cream, lip cream etc too.

cybbo · 27/03/2012 17:47

The Rio brushes arent soft so to speak but becasue they vibrate rather than whirring round (which was what I was expecting) it doesnt matter

It does have a beeping timer so I use in each quarter of my face until it stops

cybbo · 27/03/2012 17:48

I've been double cleansing for about 2 weeks now and have noticed MAJOR improvement in texture and tone of skin. Use Rio Sonicleanse once a week now
