Is Bare Escentuals worth it? or should I buy another foundation?

I'm normally a Clinique girl, but it's just not lasting throughout the day. Kind of average skin I guess, but I'd like a bit more cover without it being a mask if that makes sense? I've heard of the BE stuff but I'm not sure if it's worth it: I can't be doing with anything complicated! Does the powder sort of 'set' it? or would I need a separate powder to do that?

I've got reasonably fair skin but with olive undertones: I can't wait for the summer and a bit of sun to give me some colour but winter is telling on my skin. I need to cover some blotches and redness more than spots: any ideas?

I loathe mineral foundation, but it's like marmite I think - you will try it and either be instantly converted for ever or hate it. If you go to the Bare Minerals counter they will give you a little sample pot to try. I would try before you buy.

Have you tried Estee Lauder Double Wear? It is good coverage without cakeiness and lasts really well. I was using MAC studio Fix before, but the Double Wear doesn't go shiny or need powdering during the day, so I've switched my loyalty now!

I tried BE but found (even with sales assistant help) that my ideal shade is too pasty and I look like death warmed up ;)

It is good stuff but I tend to find that it doesn't last the day or cover up redness very well. The Clinique press powder foundation is good as is Lily Lolo, which I'm currently using. You can buy testers for a about a pound and I've found their ingredients sit better on my face than BE.

I'm tempted to go back to liquid foundation but Lily Lolo is so reasonable that I'm sticking to it for now.

P.s if you do go BE you don't need a separate powder to set it though they do a product called mineral veil which is 'meant' to set the foundation. I just found it gave me shine where I didn't need or want it.

Ok, you've talked me out of BE! I'll try Estee Lauder - I've given MAC a go and it's good but a bit thick so I didn't really get on with it.

Many thanks
