its that time of year when I really struggle. In winter I love woolly tights & boots. In summer I love bare legs & sandals. But I really struggle in Spring. I have big feet (size 8) and am never confident wearing flat pumps or trainers, converse etc. I wear skinny jeans, skirts, dresses and want something funky to see me through to summer. Any ideas please?

would you wear a wedge?

LucyManga · 22/03/2012 22:10

Oh, I feel your pain. I dont believe such a shoe, exists, to be honest

I have settled for a low wedge peep-toe sandal for sunny-ish days, and ankle boots for cooler ones.

mirpuppet · 22/03/2012 22:25

Fly London look on amazon a bit like marmite but quite comfortable.

chocolateshoes · 23/03/2012 16:40

thanks ladies - will go and reserach. Like today am wearing skinnies & have got my silver Birkenstocks on. But really I'd like shoes!!!!! Maybe a wedge is the way forward......

LittlePandaBear · 23/03/2012 19:33

And me! I too only seem to have boots, summer sandals and scruffy trainers!

cairnterrier · 23/03/2012 19:33

When you say not confident wearing flats/pumps, in what way? Accessorize have a brilliant range of flats out at the moment from very plain to very embellished in lots of different colours. Worth a look?

Spookey80 · 23/03/2012 19:34

What about brogues? I was a birkies or converse in summer and boots in winter girl, but now ave three diff pairs of brogues and love them. Smart but cas as same time and very comfy. I have very slim legs and size 7 feet and def don't feel like they look too big or long on me.

dustyhousewithdustypeople · 23/03/2012 20:41

Converse dance are great. Normal converse make my feet look like canoes but these don't!

chocolateshoes · 24/03/2012 14:51

thanks everyone! Exactly Onelastsoul - my feet look like flippers!

Dusty I've ordered some Converse Dance! Fingers crossed they look ok!

thriftychic · 24/03/2012 16:26

liking the converse dance , i may order some too! My feet are a size 5-6 but i am a right shrimpy bugger so on me they look huge , maybe these will do the job !

theseventhdwarf · 24/03/2012 18:13

These are te answer! I bought a pair last week in caramel colour- they re brilliant with jeans and dresses!
Really fantastic- I ve gotten so many compliments and people asking where I got them (oh and they were reduced from 200 to 50 e !!!!!! Yeah) GrinGrin
My sister tried to steal them
Yesterday as te shop had run out!

theseventhdwarf · 24/03/2012 18:14

Spookey80 · 24/03/2012 19:40

Mmmm ... I fancy the converse dance too, can't live I haven't seen these before!

PrincessOfWails · 24/03/2012 19:45

I'm in the same dilemma, but just one question - socks...?
Do I wear any or not? And what if I'm wearing a skirt - converse dance with no socks? Or what? Smile

chocolateshoes · 25/03/2012 21:28

no socks surely....

oh am so glad I'm not the only one with this problem!

so much easier in winter - boots & woolly tights.

I have spring shoe dilemma too. Size 4 shoes but am an inverted triangle shape. Chunky winter boots help balance me out a bit but flatties and smallish shoes/sandles draw attention to my inverse-ness. Finally found nice straight/skinny jeans this winter but am doubting whether I'll be able to carry on with them in the warmer weather if can't get footwear sorted. Would wear converse boots etc but am 51 so don't think appropriate. Any ideas for something chunky/comfy/age-appropriate but not frumpy? Or is that asking too much. Hadnt thought about converse dance. Can anyone think of anything else?

AndiMac · 26/03/2012 10:02

These are technically a boot, but I bought them for my spring dressy footwear. Aldo boot. I take a size 7, occasionally 8, so I find a heel often helps reduce the flipper look. Pretty easy to wear with anything you've described.

badtasteflump · 26/03/2012 12:00

I am tall with skinny(ish) legs and size 8 feet like you OP.

I bought some ballet pumps in Asda for £10. They are a coral colour, and because they are a cut out design they don't make my feet look like canoes as normal ballet pumps do and I can sling them out when they get stinky as they were dirt cheap Smile
