Hi, Im getting married at the end of next week and doing my own makeup. I don't have time to go to the boots counter, but have got a small boots just here.

So, i have always used Dream Matte Mousse in honey beige.
I need a foundation that doesn't shine in all the pictures! Suggestions please? Hopefully under £10 please.

Have a look in the best natural light in your home. Our bathroom is quite good, as it's all white. Do it in daylight. When you put the foundation on the side of your cheek it should kinda dissapear. The objective is to have a good canvas, which can be enhance with the eyes and lips. IUSWIM.

Why are you changing from your usual one? You don't want to look completely unlike yourself on your wedding day.

I don't normally wear makeup, but have bad skin, so always for special occasions.
It always goes shiny in pictures though, and I heard it was cos of one of the ingredients.

Little bit of powder, or blotters may be all you need on top of your usual. In the photos, your skin seems ok! Are you over-thinking this a bit maybe?

Good. Then you need another photo on your profile. The foundation you will use, plus powder! Hey, we could even vote! Sounds like pre-wedding nerves...

I think so Parsley. It's a week today... argh!

=)

You've got great skin penguins! Ok, it looks to me like you really don't need much coverage at all so look for something nice and sheer rather than thick and heavy. The purpose of foundation is to even out skin tone, not cover every single blemish. Applying with fingers is fine, but you really don't want to use much. Start applying to the center of the face and blend out towards the edges, you can always go back and build up more coverage if you need it, but it's impossible to repair if you put too much on to start with. Once you've got a good but not necessarily flawless canvas you can then go in with concealer and a brush to cover up any blemishes that show through (again, remember less is more) before finishing with a light dusting of translucent powder. You definitely don't want to created an all over mask like effect, let the good parts of your skin shine through and just cover up the bits that need extra help. Practice, practice, practice your application technique and you'll be fine.

When it comes to choosing the right colour it might help to start by looking at the veins on the inside of your wrist. Are they bluey purple or do they have a green tinge to them? If they're towards the purple end then look for foundation with pinky undertones, if they're greenish then look for yellow undertones. If they're somewhere in the middle then it's easier to buy two shades of the same foundation and mix them. I'd recommend going for a pinky undertone that's slightly lighter than your own skin and then mixing in a bit of a slightly darker yellow tone until its just right. You'll know she it's right because it will almost disappear on your skin.

As for shine, with the above routine (foundation followed by powder) you should be fine, but may need to top up with more powder throughout the day. Use a brush for this, not the pad that comes in the compact! You only need a tiny amount. Also worth noting that a good wedding photographer will be able to cope with most lighting conditions without resorting to using a flash, and it's the flash that shows up shine (and light reflecting particles in some make up) the most. So if in doubt ask for lots of photos taken in natural light.

But above all, enjoy your big day! You'll be a beautiful bride no matter what.
